Outdoor pools in Charente August

Hi, we're off to Charente in August for 2 weeks with friends. At the moment we're trying to find the best possible gite for our needs. The big dilemna is whether a heated pool is a must. We are going 7th-21st August and temp in region is around the 28degrees mark, is this hot enough to make an unheated outdoor pool pleasant to use? The kids are 8,5,4 and 3, plus we'd like a splash around too!

Thanks

We are off to Charente for the first two wks of August. Have booked a gite on a small gite complex near Saintes.

The pool is solar heated and the owners say it is around 27 degrees. Hope that will be warm enough!! I think it will depend a lot on the weather, if we get lots of sun I am sure it will be fine. Heated pool is probably the safest option.

We visit the Charente region every year, as Mil has a farmhouse out there.
Last August we were out there for 10 days and it was VERY hot!, Mil has an unheated pool that was warm by about 10 o'clock in the morning.

Also we discovered a great set of lakes near Pressignac last year, they're set in woodland, have a cafe and pincic tables. Loads of different watersports to enjoy from pedallo's to canoes etc, but the best bit is they have areas of the lake roped off to swim in, it goes from very shallow to quite deep, with a very shallow area for toddlers, complete with beach, for sandcastle building. The water in the lake is filtered so is very clean.

As the coast is about 1 1/2 drive away from where we are, so we decided to spend the days we would have at the beach, there instead.

Between Sil and us there were 5 kids ranging in age from 11 to 5 and 2 non swimmers and they all thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

If I remember correctly they were called Lacs de Haute, well worth a visit.
