I know this has been done before - but anyone recently taken breastmilk through security at Zurich?

Travelling next week for my first business trip, still feeding. Need to pump while I'm gone and would obviously like to bring the milk back again. Anyone got any experience of this recently, particularly at Zurich airport? I'll be gone 24 hours so we're talking about 700 mls or so - I could put it all into containers of less than 100mls but it will get a bit bulky!

Thanks!

if you are going hand luggage only you will
have to do 7 x 100ml in a ziplock bag

Thank you Mrs Badger. I called and spoke to Zurich airport earlier and they said it should all be fine if I explain to security what it is. Let's see what happens! I will take as many bottles as I can so I can decant into multiples of 100 if I have to.

but doesn't it need to be put in a fridge? surely if its out for up for 24 hours isn't that a bit too long?
Hope you manage to sort it though

Thanks mumoverseas. I can keep the milk in the fridge over night at the hotel, and am hoping the meeting organisers on tuesday will similarly find me a fridge and a freezer on the working day so that I can keep the milk cool and also prepare some ice packs for the journey home. Breastmilk can be at room temp for several hours without a problem though, so even if it's not refidgerated on the journey is probably ok. IN any case I need to pump to deal with engorgement/keep supply up so might as well at least try to transport the product!

Thought I'd finish off the thread about transporting breastmilk in case anyone else is trying to do so.

it worked fine. At Heathrow on the way out I pointed out the freezer inserts and explained what they were for. They got me to put them through the machine separately, but otherwise seemed unphased. At the hotel in Zurich they put the freezer inserts in teh hotel freezer for me, and I put the milk I pumped in the minibar fridge as I pumped it. On the way back zurich airport security looked at the milk slightly suspiciously, and looked a bit blank when I said it was breast milk, I remembered 'mothers milk' and tried that, which worked, although he asked where the baby was! He then checked with a colleague who said yes, fine, no worries.

I was glad I'd called security earlier so I knew for sure all should be fine.

So they didn't make me test it or throw it, and I brought back 1 litre of the stuff. Quite an ok experience.

PS it wasn't in 100ml units, it was in 150ml bottles. Didn't seem to make a difference.
