in June with our 3 year old. We are planning an overnight stay on the way there eg Lyon or Macon area.
Can anyone recommend a good place to stay over .
Thankyou

Crossed France last summer and stayed in a formule 1(Dijon) It is really good when you only need a place to spend the night before hitting the road again. I am not to sure how safe it would be for bikes though as I do not think you can take them inside.

Mine came in 4 days.

mine too.
deposit is refundable when you send it back. (or it was when we took it out! haven't bothered sending it back cos they only charge the 2 euros rent on months you actually use it)

Whingeomatic - have you stopped in Bourges before? We did, year before last, en route for the Tarn. It's a lovely little town and has a floodlight walking tour through the 'vielle ville' in the evening, where they project moving images on the the walls of the churches. Plus a merry-go-round in one of the squares, with a Cinderella pumpkin coach (Perhpas only useful if you have small DDS!) If anyone else is heading to the Toulouse/Albi area, then Bourges is a good stopping point. We found a B&B just outside the town through this website

We stayed in Bourges last year in a Campanile as only 3 of us. When we took both kids we used Novotel family rooms, and have stayed at Dijon as well.

This year we are going to Barcelona and have just booked a hotel right on the Motorway Junction as want to get a bit further South as have a longer leg the next day.

Leaving Bourges after breakfast gets you to the Languedoc early afternoon.

Going to the Cote D'azur (Port Grimaud), the traffic in July was HORRENDOUS - the last 10 miles were crawling. We stopped overnight in Lyon then.
