Driving to Devon from North London on Good Friday.

Are we mad to try this? We've booked Featherdown farm in Devon but now I'm hearing horror stories about the traffic on the Easter weekend (we are booked for Good friday to the tuesday).
Will it be enough to get up ridiculously early and leave home about 5am or should we go thursday evening instead and stay at a travel Lodge half way or something? OR should we try and rebook for a farm closer to home perhaps?

Anyone??

TIA

We went to Cornwall on the Saturday before May half term last year. It took us 10 hours because we made the mistake of waiting until 9am to leave.

Yes, get up at 5.

Sorry, that was from N London too.

I do this a lot (from SW London)

Get up at the crack (5am is good!), put kids in car in pjs, and have breakfast when halfway there.

You will feel so smug at having got on the M3 in an hour it will be worth it. (We go the A303 route)

Good luck!

Go Thursday night and stay at the Devon Hotel near Exeter (like a motel but nice!). We have found that someone alwaya seem to have an accident on the morning of bank holidays and the A303 closes. Put kids in PJs, leave about 7.30 no problems!

okay, so either go 5am friday morning or 7.30pm thursday night huh?
londonmackem, if you leave at 7.30pm thursday night, what time do you usually get to the hotel by please?
