Is swimming free at the European Parcs like the UK Parcs?

Yes, pool is open from 10am-10pm

The other activities ie archery/climbing etc tend to cost a lot less than the UK one, ie most of them under 10 euros and the kids club is free .

FimBOW · 13/01/2010 23:08

Thanks Bruffin - the site doesn't give much info about the pool really.

Which one are looking at? I have been to 5 of the european parks, but not the uk ones.
They all have rapids, ones of those big tube slides, wave maching, food and drink for sale. They usually provide little lifejacket things for the little ones and one even has an air maching to blow up inflatables.

The one we went to this year had a flow rider/surfing machine which cost 5euro for afternoon/morning. They give you a band the you can come and go as you please.

A couple we have been to have a snorkling pool which has fish tanks around the edge underwater. I think there is also one with a sunken ship, although we haven't been there.

Reckonon activities costing about half in euros what they do in the UK in pounds, we learnt to waterski last summer in Europe last summer, the kids wanted todo it when we were at Sherwood in the autumn, I nearly choked when I saw the cost there.

mumoverseas · 14/01/2010 10:39

we went to the CP near Paris (lac Ailette) (sp?) last year and swimming was free but all the other activities were very expensive. Will see if I still have the price list somewhere but remember being shocked about how it all added up

MissAnneElk · 14/01/2010 10:48

Yes, we went to one of the French ones. Not only were the additional activities cheaper than the UK, but they were not so busy (August) meaning you could make a last minute decision to do something. Also on changeover days (Monday and Friday) many of them, including bowling, were half price.

Kiwinyc · 14/01/2010 11:34

yes its free (its a fundamental offering of CP) and was in the two we've been in in France. We've also been to lac d'ailette and DD1 did the pony ride as the only additional thing which wasn't particularly expensive. There were more than enough other free activities to entertain a 2yo and 5yo for a week (including swimming every day) when we went, including some things as simple as flying a kite on the beach next to the lake. (Perfect wind!)

Costs would add up if you do lots of activities in the same way as in the UK.

Thanks guys. Sorry didn't come back last night but after my last post, ds threw up all over the place.

Anyway the one were are going to is in Holland - De Emoff (sp?) its the one closest to Amsterdam. We are having a VIP villa which is right on the lake. It was a great deal much much better than the UK prices. We will probably hire bikes and use the pool mostly. We wanted a base as close as we could to Amsterdam. The prices for hiring an apartment in Amsterdam are £££££ so this way it keeps everyone happy!

Thank you again.

We went to De Eemhoff in august and had a VIP on the water. It was lovely.

How old are your DCs?

Mine are older 12 and 14 and they loved the Via Ferrata and the flow rider

We also spent a day in Amsterdam, it's better to drive to the outskirts and get the train in.

The only problem at the moment is the poor euro as it makes the restaurants a bit more expensive. When we first started going we used to book meal packages and the euro was 1.6 But it is still so much better value than the UK.

FimBOW · 15/01/2010 08:34

Ah fantastic bruffin, mine are 6 & 11, my ds has seen the flow rider on the CP virtual tour and wants to have a go, there will tears when I tell him he is too young!

I have been looking up train times to Amsterdam!

Just waiting for my Tescoclub card tokens to arrive so I can book the ferry crossing.
