Hoping for some advice...DCs are 4 and 2 and we haven't been away at all since we had them. Would like to have a nice holiday some time this year and was thinking about Euro Disney. However...I know absolutely nothing about it and nothing about going on holiday with children. The last time me and DH went away (soooo long ago), we went on a package holiday where everything was done for us.

I'm not even sure what it is like - is it a theme park, say like Drayton Mannor Park? Are there hotels that are on the park? Do you eat in hotels etc? Any info at all to start me off would be appreciated.

My DCs love Toy Story etc but I don't think they know who mickey mouse is. Where would you see mickey mouse (I mean shops/DVDs in the UK) - is he a central part of disney paris at them moment, or have times changed?

There are 2 theme parks with rides of varying gentleness/scariness/speed, parades and shows. Studios is movie base dand proabbly has less to hold interest of little ones but it is easier to meet characters there. Mickey is still the focus of events such as parades but there are plenty of others too so don't worry too much.

The Disney Hotels are set within a complex including restaurants, shops and nightclubs, around a lake althouugh the cheaper ones are further away from the park gates so they operate a shuttle bus. Camp Davy Crockett is a drive away and off site. There are other affiliated ones close by which also do packages including passes or you can stay further away in Marne la Vallee or Bussy St Georges and bus/train/drive in and pay at the gate or online.

Thanks, I think we'd probably go for one of the closer hotels although it would be more expensive, it would avoid a bit of stress for us.

Just one more Q, how long do you go there for? Is it a weekend thing or do people go for a week?

Usually 2-4 days max is easily enough. It is expensive to eat around there as well as stay. The Disneyland hotel is right on the maingate so you can easily pop back for a break during the day if it gets too much or you want to go back for an evening parade. Next closest are New York, Sequoia Ldoge and Newport Bay , within 15-20 mins walk or 5 mins by bus.

Hi there, I felt the same when we planned to go I was a bit apprehensive about what is was all about and if we'd enjoy it. It was much better than I expected and we all loved it, dd's were aged 5 and 2 when we went. I found a good place to find out more was the 'prepare your visit' section on disneylandparis.co.uk website. This will show you an interactive map of all the parks showing where the rides and hotels are. Under 'my itineries' it will also make suggestions of suitable bits for your dc's. Enjoy its great fun.
