In the process of booking some flights and trying to make sure I've understood the baggage allowance and number of bags etc that they add on to the flight booking.

Don't want to get stung with a huge bill at check in.

Each passenger is allowed 20kg luggage but you have to pay for the amount of bags you check in. So forexample, if there are four of you (including children but not infants) and you paid for 4 bags then each bag could have 20kg or you could have 2 with 25kg and 2 with 15kg. If you pay for 3 bags you still get the 80kg but you have to getbit into 3 bags so roughly 25kg each. The weight limit for each bag is 32 kg though so no one bag can weigh more than that.

In addition you can carry one bag on as hand luggae, it has to be a certainsize, a standard carry on case on wheels or smaller nut there is no weight limit so as long as you can lift it safely up into the overhead locker it can weigh what you like (obviously within reason)

I hope I have explained this clearly enough. I must admit I was confused when I first went which is why I contacted them and asked them to explain it all to me.

You can also take car seats and pushchairs as "free luggage". We recently went to Geneva and only paid for 4 items of luggage - whereas we actually had 5 including car seat. WHen you pay for your luggage on line, only include the actual packed bags, iyswim. Just turn up at the airport with your carseat as extra. We have done this many times and it has always been fine

I would add that we have just flown Easyjet over the new year. The day before we went I read a thread all about disasters people had had with Easyjet, and parents not being able to sit with their children - and so I was panicking a bit. If you have children under 5 you are OK and treated as a priority boarder, but if your children are older than this unless you pay extra there is no guarantee of seats together. However, - being forewarned - the moment they called the gate for the priority boarders I was speeding down to be the first in the queue for the non-priority boarders - DH and DS said they'd never seen me move so fast!

We didn't have any problems at all and had a really good flight - but in future we will pay extra to ensure we get on the plane early and seats together.
