Haven't done it personally, but this topic has come up several times to my knowledge on the Merry Widow discussion board. The board is here - I'm afraid it doesn't seem to work when I try to link to the results of the search I did, but if you put 'ashes airline' or some other relevant keywords into the search box, you should find some useful messages. Looks like you will need some paperwork.

Hi thanks
i rang the airline again this morning to check and they said i can take them as hand luggage or in my main luggage and that no paperwork was needed its very hard to judge what to do i may just take the death certificate with me in case

I'd definitely take the death certificate; some of the posts on the Merry Widow board also mentioned the cremation certificate - do you have that? Probably a bit late if you don't, if you're travelling on Monday. Hope you get through smoothly.
