Portugal vs Canaries in March

Hi. We plan to go on holiday for a week in March with our 2 yr old and 7 month old. I want to go somewhere warm and was thinking of either Portugal or the Canaries, although I haven't been to either. Haven't got much further than the country at the moment and am open to hotel or villa, and was wondering if anyone had any good recommendations for either.

No contest - Portugal is still cold in March, i wouldn't go anywhere near there (am talking about the south in the Algarve too) until early May. We spent two weeks - last week of April, first week of May there a couple of years ago and it was quite chilly until May.

Definitely head for the Canaries which will be much more pleasant. Recommendation depends on what you're looking for - do you want kids clubs or any form of childcare as well?

It will too cold in Portugal to go to the beach and the sea will be freezing!

Agree with others, in fact it won't be scorching even in the Canaries.
You should get some warm sunshine in March in the Canaries but the pools are too cold to swim in even if they are allegedly "acclimatised". The sea is also freezing as it is the Atlantic.

Just got back from Canaries - glorious weather, just make sure you get a pool that is heated. Sunbathing weather and we swam in the sea no probs.
