Are there any (cheaper) alternatives to Disney land Paris? Thinking of something based in Europe, rather then the UK.

For what age ? Europa park , Port Aventura, Playmobil and Lego parks, Gardaland are some others

Militanttendancy · 19/12/2009 18:59

DD is 6 but with MLD and ASD, which means that she behaves like a younger child, say 3-4 years old and I also have an 18 month old baby.

Thanks for the suggestions, I will have a "Google". Looking for somewhere fun, but maybe less busy than Disneyland Paris, if that is possible.

Parc Asterix just north of Paris, near Stade de France good. Queues shorter as well

Duinrell in Holland good for younger ones.

Shorter queues sound good!

Bagatelle in N. France is quite compact. The smaller parks are very seasonal though - April to September opening and sometimes only certain days of the week out of local school holidays. There is a Playmobil one near Paris(as well as Germany et al) which she might enjoy

Have a look at [http://www.efteling.com/EN/EN-Home.html Efteling]], my kids love it and at that age she can on most rides, and will love the fairy rides.

DadInsteadofMum · 20/12/2009 13:53

Oops try Efteling

My DS also has ASD. If you take evidence of the disability (Dr letter, copy of DLA award etc) to Disneyland Paris, you can get a special pass so you don't need to queue. You access the rides from the exits, and can watch the parade from a special disabled area. We've been a few times, and it really makes a big difference. Legoland and Alton Towers also offer similar schemes, but not sure about other european theme parks.

Thanks tipsycat for your helpful advice. DD has a DLA award; I will remember to take a copy, wherever we finally decide to go.

She does struggle with crowds and queues.

Second Efteling ... the fairy forest is wonderful for ambling about and there are some lovely rides for younger kids

There isn't always queues at Disneyland Paris. We always go in November or late September and very rarely queue for more then 5 mins. Things like Buzz lightyear ride where the queues move quickly there is often nobody waiting at all! just don't go in the school holidays or French school holidays / bank holidays and you'll be fine!

Just wanted to say that we've been to DLP 5 times with our son who has autism. He loves it, we've always had a great time and they are very geared up for disabilities. If you take proof of disability eg leter from doctor/DLA, you can get an exit pass for the family which means that you won't have to queue!
Hope that helps

We went to Port Adventura which was really good, close to the beach too. You wouldn't need to stay on one of the resort hotels, we stayed in nearby Salou.
