hi there,

we are considering going to euro disney in january, just for 2 nights/ 3 days. while my partner and our 2 years old are english and can endure cold weather, i cant! how much of it can we enjoy indoors? or are the main attractions all outdoors?

i read that they have short duration shows indoors that we would probably watch some, but the ideal would be to mix it with some rides...

please help me with your tips if you have been there! i dont want to have a miserable time

We went there for Halloween and it isn't indoors. It is a large park which is all outside apart from the restaurants/food and a couple of theatres.

So you do have to queue outside for the rides up until the last few minutes but saying that the park is quite sheltered and you are unlikely to be blown away by wind or have to worry about the wind chil factor.

Once on the ride the majority of them are inside. All Parades are outside. It'll be slightly warmer than in the Uk but not much.

Take a look at this website it'll tell you a bit more about different rides etc and the park.

If you can get on a half board package do as it's much cheaper. The buffets are the best for choice, especially with dc's.

It is a fantastic place to go and really enjoyable, especially when it is decorated for Christmas. Go and have fun, there is plenty of places to have hot chocolate etc.

Pretty much everything is outdoors; there are some shows, but all the rides are outside.

TBH, I wouldn't go with a 2 year old - they'll get lots more out of it in a couple of years time.

Jabuti

Good summary by pm, only one thing I'd disagree with and that is 'slightly warmer then here'. It might be (weather being as unpredicable as it is) but it's more likely to be slightly colder than here if anything. Occasionally it can be very cold indeed in Paris in winter (below zero for several days in a row!) Please bear that in mind before planning a trip with a 2yo.

Also be aware that outside Xmas weeks Jan will be low season, so some of the indoor restaurants that might otherwise have provided some warmth and shelter might be shut.

If you aren't tied to School hols I'd go in April /May (not Easter) or Sep/Oct.

hi,

this is just the first of a probably long series of trips to eurodisney, and possibly disney world when she is bigger . its only for 2 nights, and she is so in love with mickey mouse and his troop at the moment. also we have number 2 arriving in april we wont be able to do this trip until 2011!

i know she wont mind the cold, its me that cant handle it so well. but if the queuing bit of the rides is sheltered, i shall be ok?

I don't think the cold will be too bad- we've been in December and it wasn't horrendous, we just alternated between indoor shows and outdoor rides. Wear thermals and lots of layers and you'll be fine. When we went in Jan a few years back, they let us stay on one of the rides and go through a second time as it was so empty!

As for your 2 year old being too young- we took DS for the 1st time when he was 14 months and again at 2 years, each time was special for him but for different reasons. When he was 2 he loved interacting with the characters and going on the tame rides. We have some lovely photos of DS hugging Mickey. Disney is magical at any age, but when they're young, to see their faces light up when they meet their fav character is priceless. Enjoy!

I went February 07 and it was freezing. I felt there was a wind chill factor. Make sure you pack a thick coat, thermal hats/gloves/scarf and boots.

a 2 year old will love Disney, don't worry

DD went to DLP for the day at 18m and loved it. She got to go and rides and was mesmorised by the characters and the parade. We ended up doing a second day

Oh and she loved it so much we boked to go to Florida the following summer, when she was 2y4m and had a fantastic time. Have since been back to DLP and Florida a few times - DD is now 7y - ad she enjoys it evey tme, each time in a different way.

There's loads of little shows that are indoors, so there is always somewhere to escape the weather for a while!

Get the maps when you get there and have the show times to hand. Then if it starts to pour down head for one of the shows that is due to start. With these and regular hot drink/food breaks you'll be just fine.

Most rides are maining indoor queueing or undercover/sheltered from the elements.
