good playground in north london?

We are going to the theatre in islington/caledonian road on Friday and thought a trip to a local playground afterwards might be a good idea. Can anyone recommend a good one?

We'll be in the car and will be heading out of London afterwards, so anything around that area or further north would be good.
Thanks

You aren't far from Coram's Fields

www.coramsfields.org/

There's also Clissold Park in Stoke Newington which has a nice play area.

Coram Fields is fab.

Alexandra Palace also has a good playground, plus lake with ducks, and of course an amazing view.

Also there is free parking at Ally Pally.

I too was about to recommend Coram Fields. It's wonderful! It has an animal and bird corner, lots of fun climbing frames and an adventure type area for older kids. There's also an indoor area with regular activities and a cafe. Well worth a visit.

Are you going to see Room on the Broom?

There is a nice city farm near Caledonian Road, Freightliners Farm

Coram's Fields is the best, but would mean driving the wrong way and I'm not sure about parking

Which way are you driving? Parliament Hill Fields end of Hampstead Heath, Highgate Woods, Priory Park in Crouch End or the other suggestions above are all good. Not sure about Finsbury Park, haven't been for a while.

If you're heading up the A1, go to Highgate Wood

Finsbury Park playground is better than Priory Park IMO - the equipment is better and there is more shelter if it rains (not unlikely!)

The cafe is very child-friendly if you want a cuppa.

The parking is pay and display but only 50p.

Ally Pally also good - more running around space and some lovely animals - deer etc.

Agree that Highgate playground is lovely and the cafe is fab though quite a way from the playground. Also parking can be tricky (though free).

Depending on which way you are heading out of London, Clissold Park is also good and has a brilliant sandpit and small zoo with deer, rabbits, chickens etc. It is between Islington and Stoke Newington, not far from the A10. Parking can be tricky though - there is no free parking and it can be tough finding a meter.

If it's a nice day Golders Hill park is gorgeous. It's part of Hampstead heath and has a children's playground, duckpond, deer and small animal (mara, chickens etc...)zoo. A beautiful japanese and walled garden. Sometimes the butterfly enclosure is open - but you need to check for times. The restaurant-cafe is good and the gelato is great.

If you're feeling up for adventure its a 15 minute walk from there to the truly magical Pergola garden - inside Hampstead heath proper.

The only downside, is that there isn't a great deal of cover should it start to rain, as everything is beautifully spread out.
A magical place. Parking down the side streets is possible - but you have to be careful with times and there is some metered parking also.
