Anyone been to a Gaucho Grill with children? Looking for somewhere for lunch in central London 23rd Dec.

The sophisticated ambience of a Gaucho (and cost) is rather wasted on children I think and they must be very well behaved if they are not to irritate others why not go for a more fun option? And everywhere will be really busy so be prepared for a hectic atmosphere. One of the Spaghetti House chain will be less demanding and the food is usually good with a reasonable choice. AND they tend to serve quickly which helps avoid children getting bored waiting. You could always treat everyone to a special icecream in an ice cream parlour a couple of hours later? Also I should book your table you can do it online usually. Search for the Spaghetti House web page for locations, menus, prices and booking (and NO I don't work for them!).

Thanks onceyounglikeyou, not sure DH will thank me for Spagetti House but I'll have a look. DS is 7 so able to behave (when he wants to )

I think people would give you evils if you took a 7 YO to a Gaucho - they don't even do chips

Why don't you go to Carluccios or a Tapas place or somewhere that will be a bit more welcoming. And apart from anything else, the cheapest for a main course at Gaucho is about £15!

children are fine at Gaucho Grill

would only take him if he was a steak monster though (because that's what they do well!) and he'd need to eat off the main menu (don't think they have a children's menu). Think by 7, most children could behave well enough for a proper meal.

The Wolseley is a good proper restaurant where children are very welcome. The high ceilings in the dining room make it quite noisy in there, so no-one notices if your DC are jabbering away loudly.

spicemonster · 09/12/2009 08:32

Oh yes, Wolseley is a v good idea.

Lapsedrunner · 09/12/2009 13:51

Thanks, I'll look at Wolseley website, any other ideas welcome

The restaurant at the Wallace Collection (sorry can't remember what it's called) does good food and is really spacious so is good for kids (they may even have a kids' menu).

Bocca di Lupo might also be okay because you can pick and choose different bits and pieces
