right. i am looking for a property over new year next yr. for 3 or 4 nights for 4 families, in total there are 18 people. willing to go any where in the uk. our budget is £1600.
dont mind if we are in a house, holiday lets or holiday lodges, anything as long as we are all close together so we can put the kids to bed and all stay up ... tia

Try www.independentcottages.co.uk/

We've been booked up for months but there are one or two places near me in Devon that do have some space for New Year. CAM me if you'd like some more info.

Drayford · 27/11/2009 23:00

Ooops sorry, are you talking about this NY or next NY???

ihatethecold · 28/11/2009 10:22

I'm afraid we are out of your price range for NY 2010 and we already have a tentative booking for one of our cottages.

You could try this place (I think they offer a discount if you book more than one cottage), which is near me in mid-devon, or try searching for a holiday by price on one of the many cottage websites that are around.

If you are happy to be in the countryside, prices are usually cheaper than near the beach.

I linked to independent cottages as I use them to advertise, and you'll find the prices are usually cheaper if you rent direct from owners like me rather than through an agent such as Classic Cottages or Helpful Holidays, as we don't have to pay commission.

(I don't like to link directly to my own website on MN as it's blatant advertising!!!!! - CAM me if you'd like my details)

Check out www.ownersdirect.co.uk property ref E1588, not a recommendation.. just saw it and thought it may suit.

Have you tried looking at exclusive use of a bunk house? This is what we have been doing for a similar sized group for the last 20 years (not families and no kids back then). Self catering, dormitory tyoe beds but usually in rooms of 4. Communal lounge dining room area. Some can be set out to quite a high standard and certainly the quality we expect of places we stay had gone up over the years.

Do you have a particular area in mind - can make recommendations in the lake district or Wales.
