DISNEYLAND PARIS - hotel recommendations

We are looking to go for dd's birthday in February next year... only for a night either side of spending a day at the park. We will drive over so options can be in the wider vicinity.

Ideally, we would like breakfast and car-parking. A pool would be fab too!

We have been before and stayed at the Kyriad, which was great. Just looking for other options.

Even willing to consider Paris area and taking a train to the park.

I was about to suggest the Kyriad

There was quite a few other hotels in Torcy though, I wonder if any have a pool.

kiwibella · 24/11/2009 22:09

thanks MMC. A pool is not an absolute necessary... just figuring dd won't last all day at the park and we might end up spending time "chilling" back at the hotel.

I've stayed at both the explorers and the dream castle, both were nice, but neither were really cheap.

The first time we went we stayed in a hotel in the bussy st georges area which was really cheap, no pool, but I think most hotels in that area are pretty cheap. It's 2 stops (about 7 mins) on the train to Disneyland.

We went in July and stayed at Davy Crocket ranch which is the one Disney park where you need a car so perfect for you as you are driving.
The accomodation was nice although basic and they had an indoor pool though we didn't get time to use it but it looked nice from what we saw.
They provide breakfast. A bag of french bread, croissants, jam and OJ that you pick up in the morning which the kids liked. Also, park tickets were included and we got in 2 hours before the mass which was really useful as we got so much done each day before it got busy

Oh, when is half term in UK then? We have booked for February thinking it will be quiet

mumoverseas · 25/11/2009 08:52

think it varies slightly.
DS breaks up Wed 10th Feb for 10 days and DD on Friday 12th for 1 week.
Hope you've managed to avoid those weeks

MmeLindt · 25/11/2009 09:18

Ah, we are not going till 20th so should be ok.

We have booked the Cheyenne after long discussions on MN about which hotel would be best for us.

the explorers is nice and has a swimming pool and the restaruant is very nice. the santa fe is also a nice one to stay at, although doesnt have a swimming pool and doesnt really have anything for the children to do iirc although does have the disney channel in english. i've stayed at both of theese and they were very clean, nice and friendly.

DONT stay at hotel l'elysee val d'europe i stayed at this one the last time i went its one of the partner hotels that the free bus goes to, but the bus doesnt go very often the food is more expensive than the park there is nothing for the kids to do other than watch french tv, the coradoors smell, weird stains all over the carpets and its very dirty. definatly one to avoid at all costs!

We stayed at the Newport Bay, that has a pool and is lovely. Not sure how expensive it is to stay there, because I won the holiday!

If you are prepared to pay for it then the Disneyland hotel is great. Being so close to the gates (well, on top of) it means going back is not a great faff. Last year we would get in at 0800 at the start of the two hours of Disney hotel guests only, do rides with no queues, then about 1200 we would wander out, back to the hotel lunch, pool siesta, then back in to the park for parades and when it started to quieten down again.

Probably not value for money for a one day two night option, but the other way around (two day one night or longer) could be an option.

Did have a disasterous stay at the Davy Crockett Ranch a few years back, when everything was very run down (to the point of being dangerous) I think they have done some renovation work since then and from what Mumo/seas says probably OK now.

We stayed in hotel Cheyenne in October half term and thought it was great. We paid for the half board option and glad we did as thought that the all you can eat buffet was great value (45 euros for all 4 of us) compared to the food you could get in the park itself.

I don't think we'd consider going back to Disney without staying in a disney hotel as the two hour slot from 8-10 when you can get in early was the only time we really went on much! Was just so busy otherwise especially being half term.

Rebeccaj · 25/11/2009 13:01

We found the Davy Crockett fine in Oct half term. We had a 2 bed cabin, which was fine -we only stayed 2 nights too. The pool was great, and they have a little playground and farm as well. The buffet dinner was fine too, lots of choice.

kiwibella · 28/11/2009 22:30

thanks for all your replies. The on-site hotels seem to be popular options. I'll keep shopping around for a bargain.

Maybe I'm not heading for half-term week after all . I have it down for the end of Feb?
