food to take on plane for 14mo DD?

Help, am panicky and over tired and have a headache and can't figure this out. DD is a bit of a fussy eater, normally exists on fruit and veg and a bit of ham. What is suitable to pack in my hand luggage for her to eat? I think she'll happily pick some bits out of the in flight meal but I am obsessed with carrying snacks so I normally never leave the house without tubes of yogurt and crackers, raisins and/or a piece of fresh fruit. Shall I just try to get yogurt at boots once i get into departures?

Also, she's on antibiotics - Joy! - can I get away with wrapping them in a towel then giving them to stewardesses to keep cool??

gah I am so not ready for this.

Fruit, crackers and ham is fine and you can take all that through security. Do not bring along yogurt though as it is counted as a liquid and nothing more than 100ml will be allowed through.

Do not rely on the airline to fully provide re food. Leave the uneaten foodstuff of hers, particularly any fruit and ham, on the aircraft on arrival. This is particularly important to do if you are flying into the USA for instance.

Where are you flying from?. Not all Boots airside sell yogurt by any means, you will need to phone them in advance to check if they stock this.

I would keep any antibiotic liquid in a small cool bag/container along with the prescription given for this in case the security staff want to see it and or inspect it further. Hopefully the aircrew will be able to accommodate your request to keep it cool.

cheers attila. I'm really a bit concerned about keeping her fed if I can't get yogurt, but will have a look online and see what T5 has to offer. Thanks for advice.

Boots after security at T5 does not sell yogurt if I recall correctly.

T5 has a Giraffe cafe and a branch of EAT. Bought a nice sandwich from EAT but they don't sell yogurt like Ski to name but one brand for instance.

agree with Atilla that you must ensure you have the prescription for DD's antibiotics as the security staff can be rather anal.

Food suggestions, raisons, lunchables (if you can keep cool) and things like crackers. I always take things like cocktail sausages and sausage roll for my DD as she won't eat anything on the plane

Lots of cut fruit/veg, pieces of cheese (mature cheese will last a long time even out of the fridge), perhaps a small sandwich to eat soonish after take-off, bread if she likes them. Why don't you take some milk too? You can get that as Starbucks after you have passed security control.

Also, there are yoghurts or pureed fruit pouches which are smaller than 100mls, so you could take them on a plane too!

purees went thru security fine, as did milk unopened (only had to taste purees). she ate lots of the airplane food, even the roll - she doesn't normally do bread! - but didn't play with many toys, too busy chatting up the other passengers. On the way back I was careful to have chair facing away from all the people who wanted to talk to her whilst waiting for the loo.... Can't wait till my dd eats sandwiches tho.
