Liverpool - nice place to eat with kids please?

Taking DSis out for lunch for her birthday. Any recommendations for somewhere in the city centre that does nice food for kids too? Thanks

There's a Zizzi at Liverpool One, which has been recommended to us, but we haven't been to yet.
There are various places there, actually. Worth a look.
Our family default option is Pizza Express, but the one by the Arena doesn't specialise in speedy service. We might try the one in the centre next time and see if we fare any better.

We had a lovely meal with DS and DD in the Bluecoat Chambers in August. Really tasty food and children's menu was proper food as well. I think it was about £40 for the four of us all having two courses and dh having an alcoholic drink (I think).

Will try and go there again when we're next visiting my mum and dad

If you're going to Liverpool One (the big new shopping centre down by the river), then Cafe Rouge is very good with kids. There's also Gourmet Burger King, noodle bars and similar there. If you want somewehere a bit more special, Heathcotes does lovely posh food - website here - and they also have a good kids' menu and are family friendly. I would probably go there for a treaty birthday lunch. It's also near the riverfront.

Neither had I till last December when we came to look at it for dh job interview. It's actually very nice (possibly even surprisingly so, by the sounds of things!)

Thanks for these. Cafe Rouge and PE are my standbys really, was hoping for a non-chain place. Had completely forgotten about Bluecoat - used to live in Liverpool in the 1990s pre-children. I've been to the Sir Thomas, agree very nice. Was your meet-up with children? Looked a bit grown-up, as did Delifonseca. Didn't know there was a Heathcotes - looks a bit pricey for us. We'll see.

Oh, I'd forgotten Delifonseca - lovely food but the service can be slow when they are busy, which doesn't always work well with kids in the party, though they are very welcoming to kids. The Sunday menu at Heathcotes is very good value for money if you can go then - £15.50 for 2 courses or £18.50 for 3. The menu seems to have disappeared from the website but you could ring them or email.

Went to Delifonseca a couple of weeks ago and wasn't that impressed, actually - nice but overpriced I thought. I think there are a couple of "new" ones on Hope St - might check them out.
