flying tips for four month old

Hi,
I'm taking my four month old on some short haul flights soon, never flown with him before, although have been fine on long train trips. He's breastfed, so wondering how to feed him on take off/landing with all the seatbelts etc., and also if I do take bottle of expressed milk for emergencies how does it work with security?
Any tips very welcome, thanks

I flew with DD1 at 5 months and DD2 at 9 weeks. Was fine both times. I fed on take-off / landing where possibke but they didn't seem to suffer any discomfort (DD2 slept through landing on the way home).

It's easy to bf even while wearing the seatbelts. I wouldn't bother with a bottle personally, but if you do, they will just ask you to taste a bit at security!!

Hi. We did short flights when dd was 3.5 and 5.5 months. I took a bottle of ebm both times just in case it wasn't practical for any reason to bf. They are fine through security (Easy Jet and Ryan Air) - they just ask you to taste it. Bfing on the plane on take off and landing was easy - the seatbelt didn't get in the way of a classic cradle hold as it's quite loose and you can still hold baby across your lap.

She flew very happily both times, so you should be fine. Enjoy your trips .

It's easy to breastfeed on a plane. And it's best if the baby is sucking on the landing and take off, as the swallowing equalises the pressure in their ears, and prevents pain.

The childseat belt is just a loop that goes through yours so you can hold them in practically any position. Not difficult to BF unless you are wedged in between 2 large adults...
Do take a muslin or something to do nappy changes on in case they don't have a proper fold down bit in the loo and you have to do it on the floor in the galley. (Sometimes only one of the loos has a chaging table so ask a stewardess which one it is).

At 4 months I found it easy flying with a baby, it's when they want to get up and walk all the time that it becomes more difficult...

take twice as many nappies as you think you will need, just in case of delays/well timed multiple dirty nappies! Otherwise it is v easy, especially if bf. Agree with others, flying with a 10-24mth old is the real challenge!

Haven't been on here for a while as work etc. but we did the flying and was great, no earache, great changing facilities (much needed, cabin pressure seems to stimulate!) and very helpful cabin staff, even on BA! Thanks for all the tips.
