Really don't know Wales, but want to book a holiday there........

There'll be me, ds1 (4) ds2 (2) and my Aunt who is in her late 60's.

We'll be travelling from Liverpool (where my Aunt lives).

I'd like the max journey time to be 2 hours - as I don't know Wales at all, I'm wondering what my options are.

Really, the holiday is a treat for my Aunt who has been unwell.

I need to be near a good beach for the children and some places/attractions they would enjoy visiting. I'd love to find a cottage with a sea view so my Aunt can sit in the garden and enjoy the vista.

Any advice would be appreciated .

llandudno beach is stoney. not great for a beach holiday. colwyn bay beach is a bit gritty sand. angelsey and the llyn have very nice soft sandy beaches.

Um - not just pebbles

tamum · 14/06/2005 21:33

Harlech is lovely- fab beach, nice castle. Criccieth is nice too.

Fennel · 14/06/2005 21:35

Janh, i think that report of "sandy" beaches at llandudno is a bit, well, not true! it's stoney!

Janh · 14/06/2005 21:39

I think it may be sandy when the tide goes out, Fennel?

We had a weekend there a couple of years ago, and I know there are different beaches on either side of those Ormey things but we spent some time on the beach not on the pier side (there is a pitch and putt there?) and it was so full of sand the people I was with had a sandcastle competition at low tide (I could probably find pics for you if I rummaged through my downloads!)

oh, maybe the other beach, i haven't been there. i only know the main one (which that website seemed to be talking about).

I will second Tanum's vote for Harlech, beautiful castle and lovely village.

No sea view but this is a great place on the Lleyn. Look at www.gwynfrynfarm.co.uk. I went there in Apr with ds (2.6).
