Our Dynamic Earth for a 5 year old?

I hear it's good, but is it good for a five year old.

He liked the natural history museum. Would this be good for him?

While you're here, is edinburgh zoo still as good as it was when i was young?

Hi there... Our Dynamic Earth i think is brilliant, though it depends if your lo is easily scared... it is touch and go for a five year old

We took dd1 nearly 5 and dd2 2.5 last year and they were both so terrified that we ended up having to be escorted out. The staff were brilliant and then we were given a total refund and free tickets for the soft play. The tour starts in a giant lift that has glass sides and you go back in time (ie go down one floor) and its dark and loud. But they both started screaming (started by the older of the two) and wouldn't stop. It did look good and i do plan on taking them back when they are older cos it did look really good. And yes Edinburgh Zoo is fab too. Expensive and i recommend a picnic. If you can afford to join and go regularly you'll feel you've got more for your money. But if he likes animals - great!

Like sewCreative, our DS2, who was five at the time, was HYSTERICAL at Dynamic Earth. The time lift thing and then the earth moving during an earthquake left him crying like a baby and begging to leave.

Because it was so expensive and DS1 (15 at the time) was enjoying it, we stayed, but I had to carry him around clinging to me like a baby monkey and I don't remember much of the exhibits myself.

Depends on the child, but I wouldn't go again for another couple of years.
(He liked Holyrood Palace though and I thought that was good value.)The zoo was not cheap and I always feel that if you have seen one penguin..,,

DS is almost 3, he adores Dynamic Earth. I can see why the lift might be scary for wee ones but ds was fine (we had warned him it would go dark and it'd be like being in a rocket). Would defo recommend it.

Edinburgh zoo still has AWFUL facilities for the big cats which makes me vvvv but is otehrwise a good day out - VERY expensive though imo.

Except you can never see the Pallas cats. Also a shame not to see the polar bear Mercedes, the girls loved her, though it did make me vvvv sad to see her like she was- but her enclosure up at the Highland Wildlife Centre looks as though it'll be much better too.

Oh i can't decide.
He was quite scared of the robotic t-rex at the NHM, but he does like rocket noises.
I'm going to give it some thought.
