Can anyone help me find somewhere nice in Cyprus please? I'm getting really disheartened looking at holiday websites, don't think we're ever going to find a nice holiday <wail>!!

I've wasted spent over an hour going crosseyed trawling through holiday websites trying to find a nice Cyprus holiday for the Oct 1/2 term for DP, DD (11) and me, to just chill out in the sun with a few good books.

We haven't had a holiday for years and DP really fancies Cyprus so I was all excited looking at the websites but I can't find anything that doesn't look like a Butlins in the sun.

Anything that looks quite nice (eg Kyrenia sounds like a nice harbour town) either has horrendous trip adviser reviews or just has white haired people in the hotel photos and adult-only pools.

Please can someone recommend a nice hotel or villa or apartment (or flipping camp site at this rate!!) where they have stayed in Cyprus, ideally with a pool and without a noisy night scene or drunken vomiting stag dos or hyper blue coat kids entertainers.

Does such a place exist??

We have had 2 gorgeous holidays in Limassol, I love the old town. We stayed in the Le Meridien on the outskirts, gorgeous hotel with fab facilities for families.

Limassol is GREAT for shopping in Old Town and has a funky market. Beaches are black sand but waters are lovely, some really nice hotels in the Amathus area (opposite to old town) but they are a long way out. You'll need to get the bus into Limassol.

There's a lovely prom in Limassol from Holiday Inn to Old Town, it takes 45 mins each way, and is a nice way to catch some rays and stretch legs (plus you can paddle) and there's some nice beachside cafes to have a frappe! Wish I was there!

We went for a fortnight at Easter, Wattinger, and loved it so much we had another week there at August.
Staff helpful and welcoming, food nice, entertainment fab for kids and adults, and the most amazing kids club that dd wouldn't leave.
Can't do link as on phone, but have a look, op.

Thankyou all so much for your fab tips. Turns out unfortunately we just couldn't get any decent flights for Cyprus at a reasonable price from any nearby airports (after trawling the internet and the travel agents' for hours, I didn't realise Cyprus would be soooooo expensive!), but we did end up getting a really good deal to Crete here which looks fab. Says the location is not so fab but we're not going for sightseeing, just chilling!

I'm so excited now and just need to find some new flip flops!

Oh and I could do with some new shades.

And I saw some lovely skirts in the sale...........

I really need to stop using the word 'fab' quite so much!
