How long did it take you drive from St Malo (or wherever) to teh Vendee (around St Jean de Monts I asm thinking) and was it a hellish journey or not?

via michelin is a good site for route planning. St Malo = 3 hours, Cherbourg 4.5 hours.
I think Brittany Ferries let you mix routes, so you could go out one way and back another if the ferry times are better.
