NEW ZEALAND

these were wild dolphins in pacific ocean

TOTALLY DEFFO BRILL

almostanangel · 30/05/2005 16:54

in australia there is a dolphin place i cant think what its called i will look later and let you know

jenkel · 30/05/2005 16:57

There is a fun park type thing in Mexico, somewhere near cancun I think but have no idea of the name, think you can swim with these.

The best thing is to swim with them in the wild, and then if they want to stay with you they can. We went diving in Bonaire (caribean) and when we were coming back from a dive on the boat some dolphins started to follow the boat, we all jumped in and they were swimming around us, one of the most incredible experiences I have ever had, there were even babies.

There are supposed to be some very tame dolphins in dingle bay, ireland, but a bit too cold to swim with.

Thanks for all your quick replies and ideas. Off to get a few brochures.

In New Zealand it is KAIKORA

BUT THERE ARE OTHER PLACES AS WELL will try to remember the names

THey just swim off back to the ocean when they have had enough and so it is the dolphin's choice to be there

IMHO that is the fair way to swim with them

They choose then

Surprized about swim with babies we were told we were not allowed to swim if there were babies

DEFFO BRILL though

There is a place in Algarave Zoomarine(?) - it does dolphin, sealion dispalays etc. I think you can swim with dolphins there (in a pool). We didn't because I think you have to allow 2-3 hours DD1 would have loved a go but DD2 was too young and we didn't want to split into two groups!!!

Isla du Mujeres just off Cancun.
We did the swim in December and our 2yo dd LOVED it. It is a bit club 18-30 does dolphins but it's still a nice experience - Carribean sea and amazing creatures right in there beside you!

My niece did it in a national park in Mexico down near Playa des Americanas I think said it was wild.

Mud · 31/05/2005 09:30

Nature reserve in Eilat

potty1 · 31/05/2005 09:42

A friend of mine's dd swam at Zoomarine in Portugal - arranged for them by the 'Make a Wish foundation' as the little one has leukaemia.

Chuffed · 31/05/2005 10:15

dh and I swam in Mandurah your second link Suzywong. It was brilliant, we just went out in the boat until you see some dolphins and then they just stop the boat and you get in the water.

suzywong · 31/05/2005 10:40

OH wow, I haven't done that myself yet, but will deffo be doing it this summer (very nice, WA isn't it?)

Kiwifruit · 31/05/2005 13:42

In the Bay of Islands or in Akaroa in New Zealand (would go for Bay of Islands as the water is warmer!) if you want to do it in the wild. Otherwise, think you can do it in Napier in an aquarium place, but don't recommend swimming with them in captivity as most marine experts say that it's really cruel...

almostanangel · 31/05/2005 16:56

are there dolphins around the barrier reef? or just sharks?

jofeb04 · 31/05/2005 18:48

We did in in Jamaca, amazing experence, but expensive!!

valleygirl · 01/06/2005 12:59

you can do it in Varadero (v. commercialised) or Guadalavaca (much less touristy) in Cuba.

Newbarnsleygirl · 02/06/2005 08:57

Jamaica, Cuba, Mexico, and the Cayman Islands.
