Legoland - when to go?

DS is desperate to go to Legoland. We have some vouchers but DH and I absolutely hate crowds and long queues! Can anyone advise as to the best time to go? Would a Saturday in Sept be OK do you think?

Ds was taken yesterday (as dd too ill for us all to go) and had a great time.

He said he went on the Viking River ride 5 times and didn't have to queue at all. He is 7yrs old though, so not sure how accurate that is. Queues at the roller coaster were longer.

Not sure how much help that is! Have a great time.

we went on friday- not too busy, but ride queues were 20 to 30 mins- too long for our 3yo... we had a fab day though- littlies rides were 10- 125 min queues.

thank you!

We went recently purposly to avoid the que's.

Went Sunday and Monday - Sunday was ok and waited only 5mins or so. Monday was brilliant no wait on anything.

Tips - do what we did...get there before 10am and head to the end of the park and work backwards - definate empty.

Have fun - its brilliant our 4 yr old loved it, but did take peoples advice and go before schools break up and not on a Sat

umm- but don't go this sunday.... the ceebeebies roadshow thing is on.... I imagine it will be packed!

ConvalescingCow · 15/07/2009 22:57

If I had children at achool I would try and go on an inset day during the week. These vary a lot and it is much less busy than in a normal holiday break usually.

I've just won the tickets! hurrah hurrah!

Now, realistically, can we take the baby? Will there be anything we can go on as a family (the train thingy for example)?

Or do we need to take someone else to hold the baby

If you have to wait for ages, do what I did last year and complain (I complained about lots actually it was so crap).
They sent me free tickets which I refused, then they sent me free tickets for any of the Merlin group which we used and loved. The this year had a suprise letter from them with another set of free tickets. So am biting the bullet and going to legoland in 2 weeks. Hopefully its improved

hungrierhippo- we went when dd was a baby and took it in turns to go on the rides with ds.

I just got a quiet coffee when it was my turn to have dd which in itself was bliss

Well we had a fab day yesterday. The weather was good and it did get busy but I am sure nothing compared to a weekend or school holidays. Quite a few school groups though. Queues were manageable for a 4 year old. Soooo much to do that we barely got to see any of it so will go back another day. Ds really loved the roller coasters and the viking ride though we couldn't believe quite how wet you do get on it! Thanks for the advice everyone.

Glad you had a good time.

that you got to go whilst I sit in the house in quarantine with dd and her scarlet fever

My two sons are now 16 and 14 and used to be obsessed with Lego. Still have mountains of that they refuse to give up. We went to Legoland twice when they were younger and loved it. However, neither of them can remember ever going! They don't remember holidays and almost anything we ever did. You do wonder why you bothered. We only have Lego driving licences and photos to prove to them that they went.

oh no sorry to hear that DesperateHousewifeToo .. .you have my sympathy - I have just spent the past 2 weeks quarantined with ds' chicken pox! We had to cancel our holiday so legoland was an attempt at making up for it!
