We (me, DH and DD who will be just turned 8y) next May half term. Not yet booked but we are going over for my sister's wedding at the Luxor. DD is to be bridesmaid.

Have you been?

It looks like it will be a fun hectic holiday and we are already looking forward to it.

What are the highlights?

Where did you stay?

And DH and my dad want to go to the Grand Canyan - did you do that? How? Was it worth it?

TIA!

We were married in Vegas in 95 and returned last year without dc's. I am also keen to see everyone's recommendations for Vegas with a family as i'm hoping to go again next year.

We stayed at the Luxor the first time when it was nearly new and last time at the Mirage which I felt was a great value hotel in the centre of the strip. The pool area was lovely.

Had a fab meal for DH's birthday at Olives at the Bellagio overlooking the fountains. It was amazing but we did have to book.

I stayed at the Luxor a few years ago and our room was really dirty - my son found a used condom down the side of the bed.
I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

You'll have a great time, it's a fab place but quite a culture shock. I've stayed at the mgm 3 times and it's a lovely hotel. Really nice pool area which would be good for your dd, its also in agood location and has a monorail which goes along the strip. Agree with others who say Circus Circus is a dump. The shopping in Vegas is fab; Ceasars Palace, The Venetian, Fashion Show Mall are all great for shopping.DH and I did the helicopter trip to the Grand Canyon. We landed in the Canyon and had a picnic. To be honest I wasn't too fussed about the trip but my husband was blown away by it - I think it must be a guy thing. You can take a helicopter flight at night down the strip and that is brilliant. I think is about$50 for a 10 min flight but it's really woth it. Have a great time

I absolutely love Vegas and my kids do too but sadly the city is shifting away from family friendly entertainment. The Strip is lined at all hours with people in orange shirts clicking cards at you for prostitutes and billboard vans drive up and down advertising girls. It's all a bit eye-opening but there's enough else for kids to be distracted by!

I just remembered... If you're wanting to go to a show, La Reve at the Wynn is amazing. It's a Cirque du Soleil show set in a big pool of water and my 8 and 5 year olds were spellbound
