The Lion King was a hit with my DCs.

PortAndLemon · 07/06/2009 23:12

The Lion King was my first thought as well.

islandofsodor · 07/06/2009 23:12

The Lion King. Dd was 6 when she saw it (though I think that is the youngest age a 4 year old was hysterical). It is absolutely fantastic we went on a trip with children aged between 6 and 14.

Joseph has closed which is a shame.

Dd wants to go and see Hairspray but that may be a more girlish appeal.

Oliver as long as he doesn;t find it too dark.

Billy Elliot?

islandofsodor · 07/06/2009 23:17

I sawe Billy Elliot over Easter. It isn;t really suitable for an 8 year old. The language is VERY fruity. Ok for a mature 10/11 year old or from about age 12 and above.

Fantastic show though.

thanks very much everyone. Ds has turned his nose up at Lion king although i think he would love it. Looks like it will be another football party for his birthday after all!!

What a shame because it is a fantastic show the choreography and costumes are amazing.

Have you tried showing him the trailer for it.

DS(4) will be going soon with MIL as a belated Christmas present. But he's a big fan of the film and is good at paying attention for a couple of hours (at the cinema, for example).

mckenzie · 08/06/2009 17:16

thanks PAL. DD did sit nicely through Bolt a couple of months ago so perhaps she is ready for a show.

I spoke to the Box Office and they said that they have lots of 4 year olds attend the show and they all love it - she had even taken her 3 yo.

glinda · 08/06/2009 17:24

Totally agree The Lion King is a perfect first show! Just bear in mind that it could be the start of a very expensive birthday tradition!
Is anyone else going to West End Live this year?

glinda · 08/06/2009 18:43

Nope? Just me then ....

sb6699 · 08/06/2009 18:57

Off to google Glinda.

glinda · 08/06/2009 19:08

It will be my first visit but it looks great! check out you tube for vids of last year.
They put up a big stage in Leicester Square and most of the big West End shows perform over the weekend. AND ITS FREE!!!!!

sb6699 · 08/06/2009 19:28

Think dh will be working that weekend - shame.

islandofsodor · 08/06/2009 20:57

I would personally say that 4 is too young. Pbiously it does depend on the child but during the stampede and when Scar pushes Simba's Dad off the cliff there were two 4-5 year old children who absolutely sobbed.

They didn't return for the second half and it is expensive to risk that.

Dd (then aged 6)shed a quiet tear when Simba "heard" his father's voice in a poignent moment in the second half.

MrsWeasley · 08/06/2009 23:18

My DS saw the lion king aged 4 and absolutely adored it. He was used to going to the theatre and the still rates as in his top 3 musicals (along with Joseph and Cats)

paisleyleaf · 08/06/2009 23:23

Do you think that 'walking with dinosaurs' might be too scarey?
I don't know too much about it.....but sounds great
