Thanks for all the earlier help just wondering does anyone know whether I need comprehensive insurance for driving my car in France or is 3rd party OK?
DO I need a green card?

Thanks

It says here only 3rd party insurance is compulsory, you don't need a green card, but you should inform your insurer.

Did you know that from 1 July last year, you must have a high visibility vest in the car? We've not been since last year, and we weren't aware of this.

Oooh, thanks for this, we are going later in the year & I'd forgotten about insurance

3rd party is the minimum, but you do need to extend it to fully comp to cover yourselves & your car in case of an accident.

You need European breakdown cover too.

Put the vest in easy access of the driver too, it should not be in the boot.

We always get AA 5* or the equivalent, but we have never driven with the warning triangle and all the other stuff they suggest

The triangle is compulsory, so if they catch you without it, you will get a fine...
