Sounds good

If they're not too knackered you could walk back through Trafalgar Sq, down to Embankment and over the bridge to waterloo.

victoria gardens is lovely to hang about in, will be so light in the evenings too

There is a special exhibition on Henry VIII at the Tower at the moment - or at least there was a couple of weeks ago when my brother went. If you don't think you will last till Eds Diner for food, walk on past the "wobbly" bridge, Globe Theatre, etc and there are quite a few restaurants (think the London Dungeon is along there too...) - you eventually get to Borough Market, though think it might be wasted on the kids (unless they are young foodies)

The cafe at the Tate Modern is good too - if you go a bit before 12 it's easier to get in.

BernardsCat · 12/05/2009 17:44

borough market deffo wasted on kids.
what kind of street are there teh suitable resties near the dungeon?

If you get down to the river just past City Hall, there's a Strada and a Groucho Grill. And I think a Wagamama's, not sure though.

redpanda · 12/05/2009 18:28

There are quite a few restaurants and cafes round the back of Borough Market (incl. Nandos and Wagamama) as you walk through from Globe through to London Bridge.
Hays Galleris is diagonally opposite the London Dungeon and there is a cafe place and a few stalls there. You can walk through Hays to the river and there you will find HMS Belfast!

GrapefruitMoon · 12/05/2009 18:39

What Redpanda said - there's a "Giraffe" too near the South Bank Centre if you want to try somewhere you may not have been before...

Another thing they may like to see is just a bit past the South Bank Centre (heading towards Tate Modern) there is a beach (believe it or not) on the river shore. There are usually a few people making unusual sand sculptures - my kids love it. There are also lots of street entertainers around there - I'm a bit about them but they might be mildly amusing as you walk past. Gabriels Walk is also just past the South Bank - lots of cafes and shops arranged around a square with loads of outside tables - good place to stop for a coffee.

Ed's diner is very funky.

Love Greenwich Park too... there's a great playground in one corner and the Royal Observatory up the hill. The market place is always interesting. IMO, the best way to get to Greenwich is City Cruises... East End boys tell the commentary their way . It's a good laugh.
