We have just come back from 5 nights at the Los Gigantes spa and suites hotel in tenerife. Its about 1/2 drive away from the hell on earth that is las americas, and tbh it was the most fantastic holiday ever. It gets great reviews on trip advisor, and a few other MN'ers have recommeded it. 4* all inclusive - 5 pools, kids club, 4 different restaurants, all suites so seperate living room and bedrooms. Amazing food, service, hotel, cant recommend it enough.

If you want something a bit different you could try a Kinderhotel or a Familotel in Austria or Germany. I think they have them in northern Italy as well.
They all have a range of activities for children of different ages and are often in parts of the countries with interesting local places to visit. They tend to be 1 or 2 (or even 3) bedroom suites and are half board or all inclusive. We've stayed in a couple of them and they've had children's clubs, indoor swimming pools, different sports e.g. horse riding and tennis, and the food was fantastic.

Badpups - what are Kinder hotels like? Do they speak English there? Will my son be confused in the creche/kids clubs there as he only speaks english (and is 2)
