DD will be 1 in a few weeks and DH has got the day off work so we were going to go out for the day as a family (rather than have a party - as she wont know anyway!)

open to any ideas at all really!!

Thank you

How about a farm? Odds Farm near Beaconsfield is great. I took my DS for his 1st birthday, and a friend took her DD as well - both loved it.

was just looking at their website!! is there anywhere else similar? which is the 'best' children's farm locally?

family adventure farm newbury not been but saw it recommended locally.

a bit further afield is Hatton Country World in Warwick (1.5hrs from south reading)

ODDS Farm is our favourite.

Child Beale in Pangbourne?

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 30/04/2009 22:29

Beale Park?

Rainforest if it's wet??

MollieO · 30/04/2009 22:44

Bucklebury Farm Park would be closer to you than Odds Farm.

We don't mind traveling - anyone been to all/some of them? which would be better for a 1 year old - fancy ride on train maybe, some animals, small softplay type area would be a bonus and somewhere to have lunch!

Beale Park would be perfect. Theres a train, loads of animals, big sandpits and paddling pools, and nice cafe.

If you fancied going further, Bocketts Farm at Leatherhead is really good, and has indoor play

Odds Farm is better and cheaper than Beale Park.

(Fight Fight!)

Odds Farm has hay bales to climb, and you can get in the rabbit hutch to pet them which my DS loved! And it has a lovely shop where you can spend the money you saved by going there rather than Beale Park

Picante - can I be on your team in the fight?

fairimum · 01/05/2009 13:53

heehee they are the 2 I think we are now considering!! any other opinions??

Odds Farm has more animals and they are more accessible so you can stroke rabbits, feed sheep etc and the tractor ride is good.

However Beale Park has a little train (I love a little train), meercats and a big sandpit and paddling pool.

I think Odds Farm best for littlies, Beale Park for older kids.

How on the fence is that?! You'll have a great day out at either but would definitely recommend a picnic for either, as food at both places costs a blooming fortune.

like the idea of sand pit - don't think end of May will be warm enough for paddling pool! hmmm... leaning towards odds farm at the moment! maybe do beale park with her cousins later in the summer!!

Odds Farm is the best farm I've been to.

Beale Park is nicer for the parents, I'd go there. 1 year old is quite young still.

www.bekonscot.org.uk/ is quite a pleasant couple of hours.
