Easyjet luggage query

Suze25 · 30/04/2009 14:02

We are two adults travelling with our DS and have paid for two pieces of hold luggage.

1/ Does a buggy count as one of these pieces?

2/ If it doesn't we'll only have one piece of hold luggage. If this exceeds 20kg will they charge extra even though we've paid for two pieces of luggage?

Buggy doesn't count as luggage.
I believe the allowance now is 15kg and they will charge you if one bag is over. There is no pooling of allowances allowed.
We went abroad recently and just took hand luggage. You can take up to 10kg and some people had great big suitcases. The size limits were ignored.

Sorry, I thought you were talking about Ryanair. Might be different with easyjet but I think the buggy thing still applies.

Buggy can be effectively hand luggage - you wheel it to the steps of the plane and they take it from you there. Check the luggage weight rules on the website - 15kg is standard, though. As you've paid for 2 items, just spread the weight over those items rather than risk one being over the allowance.

I travelled with easy jet this winter- buggy was not counted as a piece of luggage, as hassled said. I cant remember what was luggage allowance, i think 20kg per bag per person. So you couldn't have one 40kg bag for a couple, you needed two. Also boarding was a nightmare, families with kids had the worst seats- and unable to sit together. It was my first and last time with easy jet

its still 20kg on easyjet and hand luggage doesn't have a weight limit (on Easyjet). The buggy is not included in the limit. You can't have one piece of luggage weighing 30kg - 20kg per piece is the max. The reason is to protect the baggage handler's backs.
Also you don't need priority boarding on Easyjet as they still let people with children of 5 or under on before the masses! (I flew with them last week).

Don't forget your clear plastic bags for any liquids.

BTW hope you are not going through Bristol - the rules are much more strictly applied there than anywhere else.

Its true that with a small child you have priority when boarding, but in the practice it doesnt mean anything, Gatwick was so busy that it took more than 2 hours queuing for baggage check in by the time we got to the plane boarding started, and at Salzburg airport u take a bus from terminal to plane and with a child under 2 u cant be the fastest one off that bus
