Anyone been?

Thinking of going to the Red Sea Holiday Village so would love to hear from anyone who has been there, or anywhere else in Egypt. What's it like with kids? I know there will be plenty to do at the hotel, but is there much to see outside the complex?

I went to Sharm el sheikh 4 years ago and stayed in Renaissance hotel which was lovely. kids should be fine although most of the beaches are private -belonging to hotels. Nice restaurants lots to do. We had a really good time.

Hi Eve, I'm not sure exactly where the Holiday Village is sited but you will probably be within reach of Old Sharm and/orNaama Bay for shops and bars etc and I'm sure that you will also be offered trips by your Rep: snorkeling, quad biking, day trip to Cairo or Luxor, visit to St Catherines Monastery etc

Presume you have seen the reviews on Tripadvisor You could also check on other review sites like Holiday-Truth, Holidays Uncovered and Holiday Watchdog

Hi all, thanks for input.

I have seen reviews on TripAdvisor but wanted some views from people with small children really.

We have booked now, a hotel close to Naama Bay which has excellent reviews on TripAdvisor (and it's where Gordon Brown stayed as part of the peace talks recently, so it can't be that shoddy). We'll have to see how it all pans out I suppose!

We didn't like Sharm very much. No particular problems with small children, just didn't like everyone trying to rip you off or con you. Lots of people with bad attitudes.

If you want a small children beach, the best is Iberotel Palace, completely placid. Where we stayed was a bit choppy for the youngest (Ras Um Sid). Naama Bay I'm not sure about.

Would avoid buying anything in Naama Bay, it's all grossly overpriced due to excess numbers of gullible tourists.

Seems like you are in Nabq Bay. It's a long way from the other tourist areas, which may be slightly inconvenient, though taxis aren't too expensive.
