I swore I'd never go on holiday again, but looks like I am!

Has anyone any experience of this hotel or resort?

TIA

Yes but many years ago in 2002 when it first opened and our children were 4 and 7. Nice spacious apartment, nice pools, nice island ... have you checked the reviews on Tripadvisor or any of the other review sites like holiday-truths or holidaysuncovered or holidaywatchdog and realholidayreviews? You can also see more photos from hotel guests on holidaycheck Enjoy your holiday.

Hello
Was just about to post asking if anyone had been here and saw this post. Been looking at the Prestige Suites which apparently are worth the extra money. Anyone know what the creche is like? Is it exclusively for the Prestige? What will weather be like in July? Was thinking of Greece initially but think it will be too hot for 2 and 3 yr olds.
Thanks

I haven't been since 2004, although went twice before that.

TBH I do not think the prestige suites are worth the extra money, the standard ones are perfectly suitable - I would rather pay to be at the beachfront. If you have this kind of money I would rather got to the Elounda Deluxe Resort Hotel where the food is fab and the creche is the best of any we've been to.

The food is not that fabulous, although passable for buffet style catering for that number.

The creche is not pre-bookable so the ratios are not very strictly controlled, they cannot forsee how many children will turn up each day. Fine for confident, independent older DC.

The mini-disco was fab, initially we were rather sniffy about it (as pre-DC were dreadful holiday snobs) but DD loved this with a passion!

The beach/town was not too special although some nice coastal walks to next coves (left as you look out to sea) were pleasant - and manageable with a 4 yr old and 32 weeks preg!

We take a car for middle 4 days of 10 day to go and see the island, but generally played at pool and took part in dance/aquarobics classes etc.

Beauty place not that fab, but ok. On site supermarket ok, but better ones a few mins off site.

Will not be too hot, ime, as last time we were there in Aug (prev june/july) and fine.

Thank you very much for that. Funnily enough we were thinking of Porto Elounda but thought July might be too hot with 2 and 3 yr olds. But maybe not?

We went a few years ago in early July with my very fair dc, ds was then almost 2. We aren't great ones for staying out in the middle of the day, but it was fine temp wise - very windy one day iirc.

I can recommend travelling with Amanthus, they were way cheaper than others that went there. The rest of the flight were all Powder Byrne (or similar) with their own kids club/reps.

As we were the only ones not with the group we got upgraded to a 2 bed bungalow with private pool, garden, butlers quarters etc with a path down to the marina and beach. It was very satisfying, esp as one of the Times travel writers was with PB on a review trip!

The woman that runs 'The Ark' was brilliant, DS has SN and doesn't like strangers but they gave him his own nanny that he had taken a shine to - she even changed her day off so she could babysit for us on our wedding anniversary (they also contacted the restaurant who made a big fuss of us with special free puds and champagne).

The food was great on the buffet, but you could order from the menu each night if you wanted to - or like my fussy DD something that wasn't on the menu.

If you go I wouldn't bother with the michelin starred restaurant at the Elounda all suites hotel which is next door (all a bit fussy and dated imho) but the restaurant of the Gulf Villas if one of my faves ever.

Insotel - we went last summer (2nd week in July) and stayed in a one bed place with 2 dc.

It was fine - accommodation is not huge, but it is big enough, and well equipped (2 sofas, table and chairs, 2 hobs, fridge etc) - swimming pools are nice and clean and there are 2 kiddies ones. on site supermarket is ok but cheaper ones nearby.

we only had breakfast there - and that was great - usual hotel buffet. other meals looked kind of pricey so we ate out. nearby there is a strip of about 6 restauarants all of which are fine - not haute cuisine but v child friendly and not too expensive. only 2 dierctly on the beach though.

beach is nice but gets v crowded.

would not rule out revisitng but would hire a car next time.

agree - if you're going to upgrade to premier suites then you might as well upgrade to a 5 star resort. this place is not cheap and cheerful by any stretch but it's not 5 star either...
