Hello Hersetta

I have lined up flights and just deciding about apartments. We want to hire a car but also want relaxing holiday so would hopefully only use the car 6-7 days out of 14. Would you reccomend local car hire by the day (or few days at a time) or should I just go for standard 14 day car hire and pick up at airport? thanks

Also Hersetta (or anybody else with local knowledge)

Would you say it is a resort suitable for a range of ages. With our children and now my brother and his wife possibly coming along there will be 5 children age range from 2 years to 12 years. Is there plenty to do?

Sorry i didn't see your message before - been working like a dog and haven't left the office before 10pm this week.

We've only hired a car a couple of times and both times picked it up from the airport - there isn't any car hire offices in los alcazares itself. we've used crown auriga before but booked through carjet in the uk as they were the chepeat. however my mum has said they have found a company which charges 10 euro a day. She is flying into england today so I will ask her and post back.

As for the kids, i wouldn't say there was a huge amount to do - there are a couple of playgrounds with swings at the back of the beach etc and if you were to drive to the next bay along at santiago de la Ribera they have a lovely beach with lots of slides and climbing frames actually on the beach and a couple of small fairground type rides at the back. Again, not touristy, but very busy with with Spainish (especially at the weekend) whi come to the beach to stroll along the promenade and stop for tapas. My daughter in only 19 months and is obsessessed by swings, slides and the sea in equal measure. They don't often have baby swings in Spain though like they do in the UK - we have only ever found one lot which is on the serena golf resort in los alcazares (opposite the bus station) and is empty as the development hasn't opened yet but all the facilities are already in place for the residents!

By the way there is a large market at Santiago de la Ribera on Wednesday mornings - (take the road to the airport and just before you get to the airport turn left at the last roundabount and keep going for approx 2 miles - you will come stright into the top of the market). The market in los alcazares in on a tuesday.

I's also reccommend a trip to Cartegena and a sightseeing trip round the bay.
