I'm going to Morocco in a few weeks with my DD and a friend of mine (male friend).

Just received some documents from the travel agent which state in bold at the top 'please check childrens entry requirements with the Moroccan embassy'.

So, on googling, I've found this..

"Single parents or other adults travelling alone with children should be aware that some countries require documentary evidence of parental responsibility before allowing lone parents to enter the country or, in some cases, before permitting the children to leave the country"

Now I'm a single parent but does this mean it would only apply if it was just me and DD going?

TIA

No you have to get your DD's father to have a statutory declaration done to say he is happy for you to take dd out of the country. (presuming he has parental responsibility for dd) i thought this only applied to cases where you were moving out of the country but it must not do. it is straight forward but will cost around £100 for a solicitor to draw up and another £10 or so to have sworn to.

Thanks DLI, I was hoping that as I'm going with a male friend and DD has my surname anyway, they would just assume that she was his . Obviously I wouldn't lie to them but thought they'd wave us through as a 'family'

I don't think my DD's father has PR anyway as we were never married and she is 11 now. Didn't automatic PR only start a few years ago? Or did I dream that?

God I really hope I don't need to get his permission, knowing him as I do he will probably say no just to be a twunt

sounds like he doesn't have pr. it only came into affect in dec 03. You could email the moroccan government because if dd's dad is not named on the birth certificate you could take that with you as proof no other person has pr and possibly you have a statutory declaration done confirming that no other person has pr for her. they may accept that - only an idea but may be worth a try.

Thanks DLI, I'm going to take a copy of the birth certificate with me
