Found pills on the floor of the hotel room: staying with my 1 yr old!

Went to stay at an awful hotel near Drayton Manor - actually advertised on the drayton manor website... and found tiny capsules on the floor near the bed of our hotel room.
We were with our 1yr old and 3 yr old.

Was furious, went down to complain about the room not being cleaned properly before our arrival and the consequent risk our children were exposed to, but was told by the manager that if I was so worried that I should take them both to casualty. He also said he was sorry. Our bread was served on a plate full of hairs and dust.. among other awful things but Im really furious about what could have happened. Ive brought the pills home with me.

I was billed the full £120 the following morning for 1 night stay.

What would you do/have done, and who can I report this to?
might post this in legal too

thanks

You need to contact the environmental health department in the area the hotel is in. If you call your local council they will be able to tell you how to find out who that is.

I would write to complain and also post on tripadvisor.com to warn others.

Shocking!

Poor you. I would have just left there and then and refuted the credit card charge.

thankyou for this - will look up the e.health dept, yes thought about writing on trip advisor - just that their feedback is so good (am dubious about the authenticity of these comments)not sure my comment will have much effect...

You can't prove the pills were there before your arrival. There is no evidence of who they belonged to before being found on the floor. I think this is what the hotel and the environmental health department will say.

That is true tango, but it could have been a lethal accident and that cannot simply go ignored. Im not letting this one go.

Very dangerous
Could have been oral hypoglycaemics, anti-epileptic medication, goodness, anything which could have caused real harm to your children AND you wouldn't have known what was wrong with them when they suddenly got really sick
Chase it up
