Another Car Seat Question!

Q1. Do I need to book bulkhead seats or can the car seat (forward facing) go on any seat?

Q2. How does one fix the car seat to the seat using the lap belt? I can't imagine it is long enough so do the cabin crew have some sort of attachment?

I have tried calling the airline but they do not seem to give a definative answer!

Car seat can go on any seat
It will fix with the lap belt

As I understand it there are quite strict rules about where a car seat can be placed. Usually it means it must be on a window seat so as to not block any other passengers exit. Some airlines have specific seats that must be booked if using a car seat.

The airline web site/ Customer Service is the best way to find out all the details. If you don't get an answer the first time or are not sure about their accuracy phone back, talk to someone else and compare different members of staff's answer.

May be if you post the airline and destination someone may be able to help more??

Why do you want to use a car seat? Is it meant to be safer or something? I've never seen anyone use a car seat on the plane.

Some airlines only allow certain approved seats , don't assume you can use yours without checking and getting it in writng .

Airline is KQ (Kenya Airways)
and destination is Nairobi

We want to use a car seat since we have booked an extra seat for our son - 10 months - and since its an 8 hour flight we hope he might sleep a bit in his car seat.

Not really taking it for safety to be honest as I think you have to have them on your lap for take off/landing anyway.

Oh right I see. DS always slept on the plane without one but then his car seat doesn't have a recline option so he's used to sleeping upright.

If it was a short flight we wouldn't have bothered but 8 hours is a long time!!!!

Also it was £199 with NO seat for him and not that much more for an extra seat, extra luggage allowance etc
