the train leaves at 5.20am.
In order to get the cheap deal we need to levas our house at 4 am with the kids, 5.5yrs and 3.5yrs old....

Impossible isn't it?

even if they cope with that, they'll be the most grumpy whiney sad kids for the next 2 days of our lovely "break" won't they.

What do you think?

Why do you need to take such an early train?

My cousin and her DH and two DCs came to see us here in Paris last weekend and they arrived for lunchtime on Saturday having taken a train at about a quarter to ten on Saturday morning. They travelled on the £59 return tickets.

oopsagain · 01/04/2009 10:11

he said that there was an offer on... we want to go for 3 days.
Was the 59 ticket a day return?

apparently it would cost £88 for all of us.

But i don't really see that it will be fun in any wya, adly.
Ds1 has a strange fascination for paris- he likes baguettes

£59 was the cost of a return ticket. My parents have been on that offer (three nights) and my cousin and family came for two nights.

£88 for the four of you would indeed be a bargain. But I agree that getting up in the middle night is ghastly.

I can DHL you some baguettes for less than £88 .

No they'll be fine we got our kids up in the middle of night last year to go to Rome, expected them to sleep in the car trip down to Dublin to get plane, no wide awake, they were so excited, slept on the plane

mine were 7,4 and 1.6

oopsagain · 01/04/2009 10:31

so do you think they'll sleep on the train?
They'll have to taxi to the station (i think tubes will be off at that time) and then onto the eurostar.
It's only a few hours-
Thanks for the offer, BonsoirAnna

do you fancy some cheddar?

Hi, BonsoirAnna. Which boulangerie do you use????

applepudding · 03/05/2009 14:15

We have been leaving our house at approx 4.00 a.m. to get early morning flights with DS since he was two (plus early morning drives down to Cornwall).

It has never been a problem, he just slept on the journey or in his push chair when tired.

Stinkyfeet · 03/05/2009 14:22

Oh, they'll be fine. If they don't sleep on the train, just give them an early night on your first night there.

edam · 03/05/2009 14:26

I think my ds would be fine - I'd be the one who was tired and grumpy and therefore not necessarily the most fun Mummy ever.
