Anyone tried to get on board with LO covered with chicken pox scars?

DS2 has chicken pox since a week now, and every day he (still!) has new spots. We have a flight booked next monday, what will his spots look like by then? Will they allow him on board?

Of course my tickets are no change, no refund, ... argha . Any ideas how to hide them? PLEASE!

Go to the doctors and get a letter to say you lo is not contagious anymore

I think you should go to your GP, and get a letter stating that your ds is no longer contagious and he's safe to board the flight.

Agree with the others and take your DS2 to the GP on Friday and ask for a letter saying he is no longer contagious. If he's already had it a week he should be fine by then and the pox do heal up very quickly too, they go almost as fast as they arrive.

This is what travel insurance is for btw... please don't travel if you know your child is still contagious you can put people (pregnant mothers, people with damaged immune systems) at risk.

But your DS will be ok to travel by then. Hope everyone else in your family has already had it?

Called GP. We'll go and see her friday at 6pm.
It's a week now, some spots have already a kind of dark crust, others are fading without crust, and some are at early stage, discovered this mornig on his tummy.
And, no, my DH didn't have it as a child! Thank you all for your replies!!

Hope he is better by friday for you, my ds2 started getting the spots last friday and already they are starting to scab and he is looking much better, i am sure by friday you will see an improvement

From a logistical point of view seeing the GP at 6pm on a friday for a flight leaving on monday leaves very little time for the letter to be dictated and typed.
If they dont know that that is what you are going to be asking for it might be a good idea to inform them in advance.
You will probably have to pay for the letter, as it isnt NHS business, I dont know if you can claim for that on your travel insurance?

Yikes, I hope your DH doesn't come down with it if he never had it as a child. It can been really serious in adults. I got it when I was 27 as I didn't have it as a child but I think I got off lucky, I just had a mild fever for a day then got the spots. But I couldn't go to work for 2 weeks....! Keep an eye on him...!
