Cheap hol abroad that does not involve me driving!

Can anyone recommend a cheapish holiday for 2 adults and 3 teenagers somewhere abroad that does not involve driving?
I would ideally like a campsite with pools and beach nearby but I am not confident about driving abroad so would ideally like to be able to fly to it!
Had a quick look a Canvas holidays (Italy) but price was for ferry to Calais and driving the rest - I've never driven abroad before let alone all that way!

Driving in France is actually ok because the roads outside of the big cities are much quieter compared to here and quite civilised. We drive from Calais to almost the heel of Italy and France was brilliant. Their roads put ours to shame. When we drove back into the UK, we were immediately stuck in queues of traffic around the M25 and it was majorly stressful after having driven the length of France. Honestly, it's not that bad at all over there

Italy can be pretty manic though, wouldn't recommend driving there if you don't feel confident.

Thanks Holy. I'm know I shouldn't be such a chicken.

There are campsites recommended for fly-drive, or train. One MNetter has recommended a site near venice, which she flew to last year and didn't hire a car. I'll have a look.

we're going back here again www.portofelice.it/ this year it's so fantastci - evreything on the doorstep!! Your DS's will love all the sports things they organise and it's pretty cheap as you can BBQ every evening! You def don't need to hire a car as the site is on the direct bus route from venice and the airport - bus stops directly outside terminal and is more of a coach than a bus IYKWIM. V helpful drivers who put your luggage in the boot! Site ahs golf buggies to take you to your accom. You can go everywhere by local bus and the stop is right outside main gate. Pools and beach are fab and you can wlk into town in about 5 - 10 mins thru a pine forest. I've booked with canvas cos I could pay for it with tesco vouchers but know other operators go - I think there were carisma, Selectcamp, Keycamp etc on site last year or book direct. We loved it so much we booked up again for this year as soon as we got back last year!

I wouldn't agree with HolyGuacamole at all. We drove to Holland last Easter, the roads are worse than ours, giant potholes in motorways, and while being on the wrong side of the roads is not a problem, night driving is not much fun because the other cars' lights dazzle you.

It was nice to be back on the M25.

Not sure how you define cheap or when you can go, but generally speaking the further you go the cheaper it gets. So what you spend on flights you get back in better weather, better beaches and cheaper prices.

You can easily find a week's s/c for under £200pp with flights to somewhere like Greece or Turkey if you can go in June or whatever.

But you haven't stated.

Hey Chippy - you beat me to it!!!
I was just gonna recommend it! It;s dead easy - just get a bus/coach from outside arrivals at marco Polo and you're there! No need for a car at all! It's brilliant!

Leslaki · 29/03/2009 22:12

Flights were just under £200 for 3 of us BM LHR - Marco Polo in peak season for this year

I am flying Bristol to Venice in August 2 adults, 3 kids for 400 and have booked Eurocamp for 800 for 2 weeks. I think that is cheap.
