Hi there Im looking for some advice on buying supplys in france.
My little boy, partner and I are due to go to france in June 2009 to see family.
Due to cheep flights we can only take hand lugage for the 2 adult seats, so space will be short and washing clothes at my nans when we are out there will be a must-do for all of us.
This was not to much of a problem till tonight when my little boy ended up in A&E with a purple rash (very scary but he seems ok now) It turns out that he has allergy to washing powder (same as I do) but more violent. (A friend has washed his top in a different washing powder to what I use)
I dont want to go though that again in france, so does any body know if the ECOVER washing liquide for clothes (or simular plant based washing liquide)can be brought easly in France .
I would ask the family out there to look for me but they only us the little local shops rather then the supermarkets and I asked them if you can get Calpol (or simular) there weeks ago and have had no answer.
I think they think Im just being silly and worring over nothing.

Please does any one have any ideas if you can buy ether in France?

Thanks for your time reading this long post

You will certainly be able to get childrens paracetamol.

Don't know about Ecover.

I thought that would be able to get some thing simular to calpol but different countries have different rules on what childern can and cant have.

DOLIPRANE PÉDIATRIQUE I think is a Calpol equivalent.

You would need it "liquide", ie not a suppository.

for ecover equivalent but not sure how easy it is to get.

I would recommend posting if the "Living Overseas" MN section with a FAO Mumsnetters Living in France.

Are you sure you can't you take any hold luggage at all? Even if you have to pay to check in one bag, would suggest doing that so you can take enough clothes/washing powder and medication not to have to worry. I fly a lot with work and with family, usually economy flights, and have never come across a flight where you can't check in a bag. If I had an allergic child, would think it worth paying the extra. If you can't check in hold luggage, hope this bumps your post for someone who knows what's available in France.

I would love to be able to book in bag it would be so much easier but I cant pay for it seperatly and the flights were a present for a family member who didnt think that it would be a problem to have only 2 hand lugage spaces for adults and a child.

Quick thought to 'lilolilmanchester' if I have to check-in with my little boy would that give me check in allowence I havnt been on a flight in years.

'malfoy':thanks for the names I have made I not of them and I will try to post on the 'overseas' MN if I cant find it. thanks for that.

you can buy sachets of calpol here so take a few of them which won't weigh anything and be under the ML limit for hand luggage.

Simplysally · 15/03/2009 23:19

It might be worth checking with the airline as sometimes you can check a bag in at the airport without having pre-booked it - obv you pay more though. Remember you are restricted to liquids of less than 100mls (per bottle) in your handluggage.

daisychainXX · 15/03/2009 23:26

Sachets thats a good idea why didnt think of that....
just posted on the MN living overseas to see if any one there nows about Washing powers and liquids.

Buy calpol at Boots airside. I live in France and use 'Le Chat' washing liquid which is mild. Try the 'bio' shops for eco washing powder.
