Centre Parcs in Holland

Anyone been?

My sister and her family live in Holland and it would be good to see them, but since her DCs wake up at 5am Dutch time I am quite keen to stay somewhere else! My DSs are 4 and 6, and we have never been to Centreparcs in the UK. Is the Dutch version our dream holiday, or wishful thinking?

We've been to DeKempeevennen twice.
I'm not a huge fan of CP but found it much better than the UK ones.
For us, the draw at DK is the adjacent ski dome, but I know there have been threads on this subject and people have discussed the others as well.

We had a great time when we went to DeKempeevennen. Our DS was 4 at the time. He really enjoyed hiself.

We have never been to one in the uk nor do we intend too, but would go to DK again.

We went to Het Meerdal (nearish to Eindhoven) last May and will definitely not be going back.

We were at Het Heijderbos (check spelling) last year and had a great time - thinking of going to De Kemp (etc) this year.

So much nicer (and cheaper - even after travel costs and devalued pound) than the UK ones.

We have been to De kempervennen, Kids went skiing at Christmas here had a brill time. Het Merdal and De vossemeren also great. Going to try Het Heijderbos at Easter. Much prefer going abroad as you feel like you've had a holiday, meeting people from diffierent countries and trying different foods.

We have been to Uk Center Parcs many times and have also been to the Dutch ones.
The Dutch ones are identical in many ways but are vastly cheaper. I think they cater somewhat "downmarket"from the UK ones.We were at het Hejderbos last year and the accommodation was quite shabby. The activities however were as good as UK and all the instructors speak English.
You also have the opportunity to see some of Holland.
For older children I would recommend the National War and Liberation museum.

We have been to Kempervennen and liked it very much. It was our first CP experience, and we have since been to the newer one near Paris.

We thought it was great for older kids (mine were 12 and 14 at the time), and great for toddlers/young children (mine were 7 and 4). However, the in between age wasn't as well catered for - my DD aged 9 was too old for the kids activities and too young for the sports.

What we did with our little ones was to book them into the club about 3 times. They have these clubs called 'Wannabe' - what I want to be when I grow up, and then do activities and crafts around a specific them, eg farmer, circus performer. We also went to the children's entertainment that took place in the late afternoons - bingo etc.

There was also the Aquadome, playgrounds, beach, cycling around the park, and eating.

The accommodation was very spacious and comfortable, so we could stay in if we wanted to.

My older kids and hubby made full use of skiing (snow and water), and other sporty things.

My children are five and three. We went to Het Meerdal in february this year. It was great, lovely woodland, with wild deer, squirrels, rabbits. Very nice little animal farm. The swimming pool is wonderful. There is a lake that you can walk around and indoor and outdoor mini golf. There is an outdoor ice rink but this was broken, which was a shame as dh really wanted to ice skate.

It was very dark at evening time though, I didn't like walking through the woods back to the cottage when it was dark.

definitely recommend it.
