Used to live there when kids were that age so can advise you on things to do, but not really up to date on where best to stay. Not sure how much it costs, but if you can afford it I think Citadines Aparthotels would be a good bet (they are all over the city - I know the one in rue Didot). That way you could put the kids to bed and have a bit of time to yourselves - it is your honeymoon after all.
If you want to eat out I would strongly reccommend Pizza Milano in Place St Michel. Get a table by the window upstairs and you will have an unsurpassed view of Notre Dame in a very child friendly environment.
Don't miss the fabulous adventure playground in the Jardins Luxembourg - we used to do celeb spotting when we took our kids there every weekend.

Getting excited !!

I think 60 euros a night will be a REAL challenge in Paris, especially for 4 of you. 2nd the Jardins Luxembourg though - it's fab.

Look at www.booking.com

I would say, Marais, Les Halles (though might be noisy) Saint Germain are the most central. St Germain is nearer to the Jardins du Luxembourg. You can get the metro or the batobus (boat along the Seine) to the Eifel Tower.

Accommodation in Paris is VERY expensive. I had a quick look on Booking.com and didn't find anywhere that would sleep 4 for under 200 euros a night. you could do a more comprehensive search of course. Or try searching for short let holiday apartments....

Hi MrsHarrisonFord....

Where to stay depends on how important it is to stay in the 60euros budget.

If 60euros is 'tres important' I would recommend staying either end of line one - either around La Defense or Vincenne. Officially you will be in the Paris suburbs but able to get to central Paris within half an hour. If you stay over a weekend you could get a good deal at either end of line 1 as this is their quiet time as they are generally hotels used by workers during the week.

I have a dear friend who runs this cute, clean, friendly hotel and I am pretty sure she does lower prices at the weekend -

If you would rather be at La Defense end I can see if I can find a good price around Puteaux.

Or you could check out lastminute.com - it is very good for Paris deals!

If your 60 euro budget can be risen...

I would probably go for the Louvre apartment - transport is great from here - you are close to most places you will probably want to see and there is a park near by to fall into if need be.

teafortwo · 14/03/2009 21:26

pssst - when I said half an hour it is including walking to the metro time with two little ones...
