Ryan air fight with kids

I have read on their website they will carry a fully collapsible pram free of charge.

Does any one know how strict they are with this, i was hoping to take the car seat on wheels type for baby of 25 weeks.

Worried they will be fussy and make me pay 19.50 per flight (4 flights) to carry it because its technically a car seat on a pram chassis but does anyone know how strict they are???

If ryanair can charge you for something ..... THEY WILL.

Expect to pay the extra

6inchnipples · 12/03/2009 18:34

i was kind of thinking that was the case given the recent pay to pee story!

Hi there I have traveled with them a few times with my DD now nearly 2 and was able on all occassions to take rocker and pushchair free of charge. Once I just put the rocker though and the pushchair I left at the plane. But yes I do know that sometimes they do charge. Don't know what to sugggest.

Like the thread title. Freudian slip? Let's hope it doesn't come to blows.

I think with Ryanair it all depends on the member of staff at the time.

Hersetta · 13/03/2009 08:39

I travel with my DD with Ryanair several times a year and at check in they just ask does my buggy collapse into 1 or two pieces (so they know how many laggage labels to give you) I would therefore think that a frame and a car seat would be ok. DO you need the car seat part whilst you are on holiday?

Bucharest · 13/03/2009 08:41

Been flying with them (unfortunately) for about 5 yrs. For the 3 that we had a pushchair, you just leave it at the steps of the plane. Can't see why a pram would be different, or a carseat on wheels, which is just a modified p/chair anyway? I think they'll be OK.

EdwardBear · 13/03/2009 08:43

I think it'll be ok.
I took my Phil and Teds with doubles seat folded down and bungeed together. They didnt charge for it and let me take it to door of plane (twice)

Simplysally · 13/03/2009 08:45

I'd leave the chassis at the bottom of the steps and put the seat part in the cabin. That should comply - but they are clamping down. I had to repack my bags literally at the boarding gate last week in Dublin as I had more than one bag.

Ponders · 13/03/2009 09:04

They won't let the seat part on the plane unless the baby has its own seat to put it in.

spicemonster · 13/03/2009 09:07

I think they'll make you leave it at the gate and then you won't be able to get it back until baggage reclaim. You won't be able to take it on the plane - the baby has to sit on your lap.

If they say they carry prams for free, they do. doesn't matter what kind

Ponders · 13/03/2009 22:26

"Ryan air fight" keeps making me snigger

Simplysally · 13/03/2009 23:30

Quite appropriate in a lot of cases .

Don't forget you should be able to get priority boarding if you have little children. I forget the age now - 7 maybe

DSM · 13/03/2009 23:49

No priority boarding for children on Ryanair - priority boarding costs extra.

Just because you have children they won't let you on first. Even if you have paid for priority, you still have to join the priority queue.

I've flown with Ryanair about 50 times, and maybe 20-odd of these were with child. I had a buggy that had a car seat. Sometimes they were fine, sometimes I had to pay. Seems to totally depend on who is on the desk.

I would agree though - the website says they take prams free, so they should - of any description. Unfortunately, Ryanair aren't that caring.
