Has anyone investigated this? Is it cheapest to book direct and sort your own flights or go via someone like First Choice where it ia all included?

TIA

I am trying to convince DH that we should book Lykia World for September - at the moment he has an issue with the length of flight and transfer with our 2 y.o. Grrr!

It very much depends on where you want to fly from and what flight times you are looking for. The best deal I found on Lykia World for just the hotel was with Monarch(used to be Cosmos). If you go through Quidco, you also get 5% cash back.

The other thing to bear in mind is if you book separately, your holiday isn't bonded if one of your operators goes bust. If you stick with the big boys (Thomson, First Choice, Thomas Cook, Monarch) you'll probably be fine, but I'd be a bit wary about doing this if I was flying with someone like Jet2 or Flyglobespan.

Also, you'll need to add transfers on if you aren't booking a package.Let me know if you need some recommendations as I think we'll probably end up booking private transfers to avoid 2+ hours on the coach.

hi choppy. Thanks for that reply. The first year we went we just took a taxi from the airport but last year we used someone who was recommended to us by a mumsnetter. I have the guy's name and telephone number somewhere so I'll dig it out for you.
We booked separately the first year and flew with XL so I get your point totally about the risk invovled. Last year we did it via an agent but seemed to pay much more. I'lll check out the Monach link - thank you. We usually go in July/August but I'm looking at October half term for this year. The heat in those main summer months is just too much (not during the day but in the early evening).
Have you been before?

Thanks mckenzie, if you have that number it would be much appreciated.

I worked for Thomas Cook years ago and took a load of journos on a press trip out to Lykia World. Fantastic place, although that was long before kids were on the agenda!

Don't suppose you could give me some advice re. the kids club for DD? She's three the week after we go and I see that the kids clubs are for under 3 and 3 - 6 years old. I think she might get bored in the baby club, but that she might be a bit too young for the next group.

DD was 3 when we were there summer 08 and she loved the club (Tweeties I think it was called for ages 2 and 3). She loved the club. They have an indoor play room with a ball pit, small slide and arts and craft stuff. They have their own outdoor area with a paddling pool in the shade. The next age group go off around the site doing different things, getting on the bus to go to Children's Paradise for t shirt painting for example. They also have a pool (that is open to everyone) but that is very shady and shallow, for fun and games. Personally, I'm concerned when we go this year that DD, at 4, will go into this age group club but is still so young to be off who knows where. DS is older and can look after himself but I would worry about DD I think. I liked the fact that this year, she was having great fun but I always knew she was in the club house area. They do print an itinery of the club activities so you always know where each group should be. Some childrne are in the club from 10 am until 10 pm. But you can also dip in and out whenever you like (within reason and subject to places being available). OUr DCs used to do a few hours in the morning and then an hour or so in the afternoon if they wished. DS would decide depending on the activities offered that day, DD mainly wanted to go back to the club to be with her new friends .
