That is it really, except, of course, I am rather poor

It would be just me and the dcs, I am happy with camping if needbe, I just need some SUN! (which is weird because I had never even been to a warm country this time last year much less craved one!)

Please someone tell me that I can go somewhere warm for a reasonable cost? I NEED a holiday!

When you say sun are we talking sunbathing weather and being able to swim outside? Or just warmer than here?!

KingCanuteIAm · 28/02/2009 16:32

Swimming outside, walking around in t-shirts, that kind of thing

(If I don't need to splash out on suncream them I am not going )

think you are talking Canaries, Egypt or possibly Cyprus then. First choice doing some good deals atm. What is your budget?

KingCanuteIAm · 28/02/2009 16:45

TBH, I don't have a budget as I don't have any money. But I really need to go somewhere that is not here before I explode. I think it is more a case of seeing how cheep I can get it and then work out if I can redirect enough funds to make it happen IYSWIM.

Egypt quite cheap, could go all inclusive in family resort mid March for 2 weeks for £2K all in with First choice.

working on basis of 2 adults 2dcs.

Ok, I will have a scout on First Choice thanks Pinkteddy!

My main trouble is I have never booked a holiday in my life so I don't really know what I am looking for or how to try to find the best deal/cut costs etc!

Well if you haven't prob best to go for a package deal as opposed to independent as they do it all for you and if things go wrong, would move you, change flights etc whereas if you book independently you are stuck with it. Also you will have a rep on site who will help with any trips or if kids are ill etc.

Disadvantages are it can feel a bit structured (esp with all inclusive), set meal times etc and coach transfers to and from airport can take a long time if your accommodation is one of the last (everyone else dropped off first!). We like all inclusive as you can budget how much you are going to spend, if your kids are fussy eaters you can usually get another choice, ice creams/snacks, coffees, soft drinks all included which saves a fortune.

You will usually get cheaper deals on line but you could try the high street if you are a novice as you will get a lot of help booking it (but might be more time consuming).

That is great PT thanks! I like the idea af all in, mainly because it will be just me and the dc so having some structure to the day will probably make it a little less daunting for me IYSWIM!
