Oh I have been to some fabulous ones....but I can't remember what they are called....

Can I give you vague directions in the hope you find them or is that no use?

merlin · 24/02/2009 14:32

Thanks Alibean - any info would be gratefully received. We could always just wander aimlessly and see what we stumble across!!

Ok do you know where the main shopping street is that is all marbley and pedestrianised?

merlin · 24/02/2009 14:36

Errr no!!! Are we talking old or new part of town. I am staying in the AC Palacio near the cathedral in the old bit if that helps!

Right, well you are really near the street I am on about - the hotel is on Calle de la Cortina del Muelle- turn right from front of hotel along Calle de Sancha de Lara and keep walking for about 5 mins you should pop out onto Calle Marques de Larios - this is the main shopping boulevard - its pedestrianised for the most part and has lots of good shops. At the top of this street is a massive square - the cafe at the furthest end (there is a deli and wine shop next door) does fab cakes.

Anyway while on the main drag look out for the Picasso bronze on the right hand side (it looks quite like a humungous poo on a plinth!) and take the street that leads off to the right - there is a restuarant halfway up, can't remember its name but it was fabulous!! I think it has dark green awnings and if you are going at this time of year there will be patio heaters - its very popular with the locals!

Back from the main street turn left on Calle Martinez - keep checking up the alley ways off this street. Up one of them is the most fantatic fish bar that does all sorts of fried and grilled fish and seafood. You sit at plastic patio tables lining the alley way while a waiter zips up and down serving you from the tiny bar...again very popular with the locals!

There are more but I can't remember where they are...to be fair all the restaurants we ate at in Malaga were great - just avoid the obviously touristy ones.
Have a lovely time - I am very
