buying Euros/use of Switch card in France

Hi all - going to France tomorrow for a short trip. No credit card so we will be using Switch or cash to pay for things. Does anywhere there accept Switch/Maestro cards? Or if I want to buy Euros, am I likelier to get a better rate by buying at M&S or Post Office before going, or by going to an ATM and just withdrawing Euros once I'm in France? M&S are offering 1.09 (!) Euros/pound now, vs. a headline rate of 1.13. Thank you!

yyour bank may charge you for using the cash point and may sting you on the exchange rate unless you are with the Nationwide, they give the best rate going of all and dont charge for using cash point.

I would change before I go in a post office if i didn't have a nationwide card.

When we went i did just use a maestro card to both withdraw cash from a cash machine and pay in shops etc. Had no problems doing either in rural Brittany. I bank with Natwest and got a reasonable exchange rate when my statement came through. However the exchange rate was a lot more favourable when we went.
Have a lovely time

I'd take cash. The fees that you pay when you use a cashpoint soon add up.

M+S or the PO would give a pretty good (as good as it gets atm!) rate.

have a great trip
