In the Uk or Europe...or further afield?

GossipMonger · 17/02/2009 10:25

Cotswolds

Edinburgh

Bournemouth

Lake District

Give us a clue!!

duckyfuzz · 17/02/2009 10:26

define 'cheap' and 'good' for us

jaynel · 17/02/2009 10:27

in the uk, was thinking of brighton but we have been before , then thought clacton but have read there isnt much there. is the Lake District cheap?

lakes can be cheap - how much do you have in mind?

MrsMattie · 17/02/2009 10:29

Henley? Not that cheap, actually, but we had a weekend there for our anniversary last year and it was lovely (weather was good, though, which helped).

GossipMonger · 17/02/2009 10:29

well nowhere is cheap as it depends where you live and how you will get there!

Tell us

1 - where you live

2 - do you want b&b or hotel

3 - do you enjoy eating out

4 - interests

jaynel · 17/02/2009 10:31

we live in kent, im not bothered, either b&b or hotel, we like eating out, its just to send sometime together really, with 3 kids and no money its hard. i could probably spend about £150 at the most on acommodation

Bournemouth is lovely and not far away.

We stayed in a Best Western hotel for 2 nights which was great.

Is accommodation important or are you happy with a travelodge?

jaynel · 17/02/2009 10:36

travelodge is fine, does bournemouth have much to do?

GossipMonger · 17/02/2009 10:38

erm well I went with the children and DH so am probably thinking of the oceanarium for the kids rather than romance with DH!!

Will think.

GossipMonger · 17/02/2009 10:39

What about 2 nights in Covent Garden in a travelodge?

GossipMonger · 17/02/2009 10:40

here

MrsMattie · 17/02/2009 10:41

London! You could get a holiday inn or travel lodge in a more suburban area (cheaper) and tube it into central London. Then you have the best restaurants and bars in the UK, free art galleries and museums and lovely riverside walks . I was down by the South Bank yesterday and was thinking how romantic a walk along there and a trip on the London Eye would have been (I was with a boisterous 4 yr old - so not romantic at all! ).

GossipMonger · 17/02/2009 10:43

The Strand House in Winchelsea. DP and I have been a couple of times and it's so romantic. There's a lovely pub across the road or you could go into Winchelsea or Rye for meals. Only problem is it's been taken over since I've been and I think prices are going up by quite abit. Might be abit too expensive now but have a look anyway.

jaynel · 17/02/2009 11:00

yes i like rye, its lovely, looked at london and it looks really expensive

Kew or Richmond would be nice and close enough to London.

snowys · 17/02/2009 13:28

I'm just looking for a cheap hol in easter and came across www.self-catering-cornwall.org.ukThey look nice and CHEAP!
I'll let you know about anything else I find...

Try the Premier Lodge in Southwark in London. Its about 75 pounds a night, and right on the south bank - lovely location.

If you live in kent why don't you go to France or Belgium?? Even just going to Boulogne is lovely - lots of littel restauarants in the old town and plenty of shopping!! Or drive to Bruges. i went to Boulogne again in October and stayed ina cheap hotel which was clean and comfy and central. No luxuries but as I say it was cheap!! It was the hotel faidherbe and is down near the port ona busy main street but we weren't disturbed by an noise. Opposite a lovely bakery. We didn't do the hotel breakfast as it looked a bit manky but wandered into town and sat outside a lovely wee cafe under a patio heater quaffing hot chocolate and croissants! Food was faba nd we stocked up with lots of cheap wine at Cite Europe!
