Is the Euro/pound exchange rate making you rethink your holiday plans?

If so, where are you going?
Or if you never go to Europe, where would you recommend?

In our case is the other way around.
We are in europe and now it is cheaper to come to uk for shopping/see friends as euro is stronger than pound.

But the tourist industry here (in Cyprus) is panicking as it was hugely relying on British tourists. So i ll watch the thread....

We are going to egypt at easter, it was much cheaper than european equivalents

nkf · 14/02/2009 17:14

Egypt sounds good. Where and how? And if it's not too nosy, how much?

sharm el sheikh, flying from glasgow for two weeks, 2 adults 3 kids so 2 family rooms in 5 star hotel on the beach under £4000.

I'm still going to Europe. I took the precaution of exchanging the money I needed to pay for accommodation onto a Fairfx card so further variations don't matter, I know how much I'm paying (and I was lucky to do it back in November just before it went down so much). Ferry paid in sterling so that's sorted. That leaves petrol and food, we'll take a fair bit of food with us. The whole holiday is still hugely cheaper than the equivalent over here, at least half the price.

still going to europe (spain)

going all-inclusive so will spend very little whilst there

Kiwinyc · 16/02/2009 11:36

yes in that we've gone with a package that includes at least half-board rather than self-catering like we usually do. Did look to outside the Eurozone but ended up doing something slightly different in that we holidaying in the mountains rather than the beach this summer.

flamingjupiter · 16/02/2009 16:06

we're doing the same... going all inclusive so its all paid for before you go so dont have to worry about anything... except whether to have wine or beer or maybe even vodka!!!!

We're planning on going to southern Italy, which is cheap anyway so the euro situation won't make a massive difference. We can still get flights with Ryanair for £20.

Was going to Corsica but changed our minds as in essence a holiday is almost 1/3 more expensive than a year ago.

Now toying with Tunisia.
